Here are three shocking facts about owls:
1. Owls can rotate their heads 270 degrees!
Their necks are designed in such a way that they can turn their heads almost completely without damaging their blood vessels. Owls have more neck vertebrae (14) compared to humans (7).
2. Owls don’t have eyeballs.
Their eyes are tube-shaped, which helps them see in the dark, but they cannot move their eyes in their sockets. This is why owls rely heavily on turning their heads to observe their surroundings.
3. Owls can be silent killers.
Their feathers have a special structure that absorbs sound, allowing them to fly almost noiselessly. This makes them perfect predators, capable of sneaking up on their prey unnoticed.
