"Evaluation of the safety and efficacy of a polynucleotide-based medical device in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia"

Introduction: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is considered the most common form of hair loss. Among the available therapeutic options, polynucleotides (PNs) are gaining increasing importance, which support hair follicle regeneration and tissue remodeling processes. Aim: The study aimed to assess the safety profile, application and use of an intradermal polynucleotide-based gel in patients with mild to detectable androgenetic alopecia. Materials and methods: The study involved 60 participants who received 8 intradermal scalp injections over three months. Local adverse events were documented during treatment and follow-up visits. Treatment efficacy was assessed by patients and investigators using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale Assessment (GAIS). Usability was qualitatively rated. Results: Only one case of mild injection-site erythema was reported. GAIS assessment results indicated subjective improvement in all cases. No deterioration was observed. Usability was evaluated as “good” in all cases. Conclusions: Findings provide new clinical evidence supporting the use of a PN-based intradermal gel for AGA and confirm its favourable safety profile over the long term and in a broader patient cohort.

"The most common trichological problems of the scalp"

Trichological problems of the scalp are among the most common dermatological conditions and include seborrhea, seborrheic dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, and various forms of alopecia. These conditions are characterized by a complex etiopathogenesis involving genetic, hormonal, immunological, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
This study aimed to present the most common trichological problems affecting the scalp, discuss their etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and therapeutic options. Particular attention was paid to the importance of proper differential diagnosis, and the role of modern diagnostic methods, such as trichoscopy and laboratory tests, was emphasized.
The analysis indicates that effective trichological therapy requires a comprehensive approach that includes both symptomatic treatment and the elimination of predisposing factors and coexisting systemic disorders. A holistic approach to the patient increases the effectiveness of therapy and improves the quality of life for those struggling with scalp conditions.

"The use of flavonoids in the prevention and treatment of skin aging: A systematic review of clinical potential"

Introduction: Skin aging is a natural process accompanied by a gradual deterioration of its structure and function. Flavonoids, belonging to the group of plant-derived polyphenols, exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. This allows them to reduce premature skin aging caused by oxidative stress and also inhibit the activity of enzymes involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components. Aim: This systematic review aimed to critically synthesize and evaluate existing clinical evidence on the efficacy and therapeutic potential of flavonoids in the prevention and treatment of skin aging. Materials and Methods: A systematic review of the PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases identified English-language studies from 2005 to 2025. Inclusion criteria were observational, open-label, or RCT designs in human. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.1. Random-effect model was used to pool standardized mean difference (SMD) for skin wrinkles and skin elasticity parameters, with 95% confidence interval (CI). The ROB2 or ROBINS-I were used to assess risk of bias in the included studies. Results: The use of flavonoids significantly improves skin elasticity and reduces the severity of wrinkles compared to the pre-therapy state. These results suggest that flavonoids may act as an effective anti-aging agent. Conclusions: Flavonoids, thanks to their strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and protective effect on collagen, play an important role in the prevention and treatment of skin aging. Their use can contribute to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and improving skin elasticity.

"Galvanisation in cosmetology over the years"

Galvanisation is one of the longest-used methods in cosmetology and is based on the application of direct current. Despite its long history of use, well-understood and documented mechanisms of action, in the era of rapid development of modern aesthetic technologies, it is sometimes unfairly perceived as an outdated method.

This study aimed to analyse the significance of direct current in cosmetology, with particular emphasis on biophysical mechanisms and practical implications for clinical practice. A literature review was conducted on electrotherapy, skin physiology, and the use of direct current in cosmetology and medicine. It was demonstrated that the effects of galvanisation result from modulation of the cellular environment, including changes in pH, increased membrane permeability, and alterations in microcirculation and tissue metabolism.
Galvanisation, although sometimes perceived as an outdated method, can still provide valuable support for many cosmetological therapies and serve as an important element in the education of future cosmetology specialists.
