On 28 August, India celebrates Raksha Bandhan – a beautiful festival dedicated to the bond between brothers and sisters. Traditionally, sisters tie a rakhi – a symbolic bracelet – around their brothers’ wrists as a sign of love, protection and connection.
Since I don’t have any siblings, I received my own rakhi, together with a blessing, from our favourite priest at the temple on campus. 🙏
As Parul University had no classes today, we suddenly found ourselves with a free Friday! So we took full advantage of it and set off to explore the surroundings of Vadodara.
First stop: Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a trip up Pavagadh Hill to the Mahakali Temple – an important pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Kali.
And then pani puri. Because obviously trying Indian street food right before a flight seemed like an excellent idea. 🙈 Fingers crossed for our gut microbiome.🤞
