Many of us spend years wondering why desire isn’t showing up more often, more strongly, or in the way we think it should.

We start to feel that it is a reflection of our strengths and failures; that having a high libido means we are winning at life and a low libido means we are failing.

But what if we flip the guilt around, and see libido as a reflection of how safe, connected, rested, playful, and at home in your body you are in a given time, and how much you are carrying hormonally, stress-wise, and mental load wise?

Sometimes a low libido really is just a reflection exhaustion, stress, resentment, grief, hormonal shifts, illness, or simply a season of life where other needs are asking to be heard first.

Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with my libido?”

Try asking:

“What might my libido be telling me about my life right now?”

You may be surprised by the answer.

Part 2: Welcome to S*x In The Real World.

I’m Amanda Dawes — co-founder of In Harmony Integrative & Functional Health Centre in Portugal, and a s*xual health & intimacy educator with over 20 years’ experience.

I’ve spent a long time having conversations people often don’t feel able to have anywhere else:
about s*x, relationships, intimacy, communication, desire, p**n, boundaries, STIs/HIV, risk reduction, menopause, changing bodies, long-term relationships, shame, confidence, dysfunction, pleasure, illness, disability, and all the complicated ways s*xuality intersects with real life.

So I decided it was time to create a space for those conversations properly.

This isn’t performative “s*x positivity,” recycled TikTok advice, or content designed purely to shock people for engagement.

It’s a space for honest, intelligent, practical conversations about s*xuality as it actually exists in the real world.

Some conversations will be educational.
Some practical.
Some uncomfortable.
Some funny.
All very real.

If you already follow , this is very much an extension of that work — just with a stronger focus on intimacy, relationships, and s*xual wellbeing.
