He wept for a grandfather he never met. For a father who never had the words. For the boy who learned, so early, that being fully himself might cost him the love he needed.

When he left, nothing in his life had changed. And everything had. The same weight, carried differently. His chest open again. His breath deep again. Choosing his responses instead of inheriting them.

I’ve watched it happen more times than I can count. That’s the work. Not more information. A lighter man walking home.

This is why I keep lighting the fire.

I’m opening space for 1:1 mentorship. A few places only.

Some people have everything working on the outside and an emptiness no one sees within. If you read that twice, it was meant for you.

This isn’t another workshop. It’s someone who walks with you, week after week, through what is yours: body, shadow, purpose, direction. Twenty years of practice, with you, no audience. For men and women who no longer want to postpone.

If you feel the call, comment or DM me MENTORSHIP and we’ll see, together, if it’s a fit.

Sometimes it’s 9am and it already feels like 3pm.

If you’re a parent, you know the one I mean. That tiredness doesn’t come from the hours you lose. It comes from the presence these little humans ask of you, minute after minute.

Kids don’t ask us to be perfect. They ask us to be here. And when we’re not, they feel it, because their nervous system is always reading ours. If we collapse, they collapse. If we anchor, they anchor.

So if you’re running on empty today, hear this: you’re not failing. You’re loving at the deepest level there is. It’s the hardest thing we’ll ever do. And the best.

Tag a parent who needs to read this today, and save it for the hard mornings. 👇

The encyclopedia isn’t just a metaphor for memory. It’s a metaphor for sovereignty.

Everything you’ve lived is knowledge. The wound taught you something. The betrayal taught you something. The years you spent surviving taught you more than any book could. That knowledge is yours, permanently. Nothing takes it back.

But knowledge and burden are not the same thing.

Someone who carries every volume on their back isn’t honouring their story. They’re afraid that if they set it down, it disappears. So they keep it close, keep it heavy, and call the weight loyalty. Or depth. Or healing.

The shelf is trust. It’s the moment you understand that what you learned lives in you now, not in the carrying.

And let me be clear about what this isn’t. It isn’t forgetting. It isn’t avoiding the work and calling it peace. When life brings the subject to your door, you take the book down. You open it. You do what it asks of you. That’s the work, and there’s no way around it.

But you don’t drag all the volumes through every ordinary hour of every ordinary day.

One is work. The other is just weight.

What are you still dragging that could sit on the shelf?

For years, I was the most generous man in the room. Always pleasing. Always saying yes. Always predicting what everyone needed before they knew it themselves.

Always outside my body, so I could feel safe. So I could feel loved.

I called it love. What I couldn’t see was the price. Every yes I didn’t mean left a mark the body kept. The tight chest before I agreed. The knot in my throat as I smiled and said “of course.” I overrode it so many times I stopped hearing it.

For a long time I thought I had a trust problem. That people kept letting me down, or that I couldn’t rely on myself. The truth took years to land: I was never betraying myself. I was doing what I learned as a boy, leaving my own body to keep the love I depended on.

Because when we’re small, and being fully ourselves threatens that love, we choose the bond. Every time. It isn’t weakness. It’s survival. And that strategy walks into every room with us, every relationship, every yes we’re too afraid to turn into a no.

What we call a lack of trust is often an old loyalty. To the self we had to leave to stay safe.

The work isn’t forcing a louder yes. It’s coming back into the body, with tenderness, and letting its no finally count. This is the work I now hold with others. It started with my own.

Where does your yes need to be more whole today?

Your mind isn’t broken. It’s loyal. It’s still running the strategy that once kept you alive.

The work isn’t to force it quiet. It’s to go where the pattern actually lives, in the body, and show your system that today, you are safe.

This is a lot of what we walk through together in the mentorships. Not fixing the mind, but meeting what lives underneath it, and slowly teaching the body that the danger has passed.

Which of your “truths” might be old survival talking? Tell me below. And save this for the day your mind tries to convince you otherwise.

I’ve been a therapist since 2005. But I never set out to do the work I do now.

It began with my hands, as a massage therapist. Then I started to feel what people carry, learned to hold it, and understood I had to face my own first. Breath opened the rest.

Over twenty years later, my work is really one thing: helping people reclaim the humanity within them. Men and women, back to themselves.

A new Vision Quest Breathwork training is coming soon, my own method, for those who feel called to go deeper and to hold space for others.

You’ll also find me in:
Men’s retreats through the year, in Portugal and abroad.
1:1 mentorship, deep and personal, for women and men.

New here? Welcome. If you have any questions about the training or anything else, send me a message, I read every one.

Tell me in the comments: what brought you to this space?

Some journeys are not walked in silence. They are carried by song. 🔥

For “The Call of the Ancestors”, we’re honoured to welcome our special guest: “LUME” LUME (Márcio Crispim)

A Portuguese singer and songwriter who brings back the old ritual of gathering around the fire to sing, to listen, and to share. In his hands, a song becomes a bridge between people, their stories, and the quiet places we all carry within.

Come sit with us around the fire.

Monte Velho, Portugal
25 to 29 November
With LUME and other guests

Some gatherings you attend.
Others you belong to.

This summer our family is heading up into the Serra da Arada for the KIND Family Gathering, and I want to bring my people with me.

Picture it: children running free through the trees, music drifting between the tents, long evenings around the fire, and a whole village of families remembering how good it feels to slow down together.

🗓 Two cycles: 25–29 July & 1–5 August
📍 Retiro da Fraguinha, Serra da Arada, São Pedro do Sul

If it’s calling you, come. Book through my link and your family gets a €50 welcome gift on your festival wristband. 🎟
Full honesty: I’m one of the space holders this year, so booking through me supports my work too. 🙏
