R&B & Tea, with guest DJ Ateee, is a relaxed, speakeasy-inspired weekday party designed to help you decompress after the workday and ease into the evening.

We’ll set the tone with classic 90s R&B, early 2000s favorites, and neo-soul, the music that raised us, held us, and still lives in our bodies. Lyrics will be displayed on the walls so you can sing along if the mood strikes, or simply listen and let the memories wash over you.

This is a tea-forward gathering, with a curated selection of soothing teas available throughout the night. Guests are welcome to bring their own w**e, as we won’t provide alcohol.

Whether you come solo or with friends, R&B & Tea is a space to socialize gently, relax your nervous system, and enjoy music that feels like home.

Somewhere in Asha’s healing work, she connected to her ancestors and found something she hadn’t been looking for. They were already whole, and what we’re living now is an interruption in history and identity.

That recognition changed how she saw herself and how she started interacting with the world. She’d spent years working twice as hard for half as far, staying in a career because so few people who looked like her got to hold that title, carrying her family’s pride and her community’s reputation on every choice she made. All that pressure rested on the internalized conditioning that we have to prove we’re just as good.

During an ancestral connection practice, she clearly saw that her ancestors were healthy, happy, intelligent, and autonomous. If wholeness was true for the people whose blood is in her, it had to be true running through her too.

She stopped needing the promotion or the title or the perfect representation to confirm it. The confirmation was already inherited.

What if, just for 2 hours, you gave yourself permission to feel… without fixing?

We’ll begin with breathwork, somatic slow movement, and guided meditation to gently connect with the emotions that are present, without judging or trying to change them.

Then, we’ll bring those emotions into creative expression through art. 🎨 No artistic experience is needed - just curiosity and a willingness to explore what wants to be expressed beyond words.

We live in a culture that measures our value by output, availability, and continuous performance. In a system like that, taking time to pause and reconnect with your own body before earning it feels almost wrong.

But resting isn’t something you have to prove you deserve. Reclaiming your energy and listening to your own rhythm, without needing a permission slip or a protest sign, is a quiet, radical act of sovereignty.

Rebellion doesn’t always have to look loud or grand. Sometimes it looks like:

✨ Sitting down to breathe before you finish your to-do list

✨ Pausing before hitting reply on an email that demands immediate access to you

✨ Choosing a clear “no” when an uncomfortable “yes” would be easier for everyone else

The next time guilt tries to step in when you choose yourself, remember that coming home to yourself is how you reclaim your power.
