Last week I hosted a retreat in Porto, and it ended up being one of the most rewarding experiences 💫 The energy was warm from the moment people arrived; a group of strangers slowly settling into something shared.

But what everyone didn’t see was what happened in the days leading up to it.

It was my first solo retreat since becoming a mum, and beneath the excitement sat a steady undercurrent of doubt. Would I have the energy? Would the sleep deprivation show? My yoga practice certainly doesn’t look the same as it did pre-pregnancy… would I still be able to hold the space in the way I wanted to? 🫣

My instinct was to override the doubt, to remind myself that I’d done this many times before and that everything would be fine. But the more I tried to settle the worry, the louder it became. Then, the day before the retreat began, I stopped trying so hard to change it. The worry was still there, but I no longer felt the need to wrestle with it.

And when the moment came, I stepped onto the mat, felt the room, looked out at warm, smiling faces, and something very simple became clear: everything I needed was already there ❣️

Not because I had conquered the doubt or transformed it into confidence, but because the years of teaching, learning, and holding space had already left their mark. Beneath all the noise, I knew what to do.

I think this is something many of us do without realising. We question ourselves when we enter a new chapter. We search for reassurance that we’re still capable, still ready, still enough.

But often the wisdom we’re looking for is already there. The work we’ve done remains with us. Growth doesn’t disappear simply because life changes shape.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t learning something new. It’s getting out of our own way long enough to recognise what we already know and maybe that’s the practice.

Trusting that beneath the noise, beneath the doubt, there is something deeper that already knows the way. ✨

When I worked in corporate, I often felt like fitting in meant leaving parts of myself behind — what Angel calls “a crossroads of belonging.”

It wasn’t until I began studying Ayurveda & Yoga that I started to understand what True Community really means: a space where you can arrive fully as yourself...

“The closer you are in relationship to yourself, the more you will generate connection with people that allow for you to be who you are.” ❣️

Last week on our Porto retreat, I watched this unfold, 8 solo female travelers came together, opened up, connected deeply, supported one another & created their own little “True Community” — It was magical to witness 💫

Wishing you a wonderful week of True Connections and Community ☀️

If you have taken one of my yoga classes, you will often hear me say “soften into the pose”. This ‘softening’ action may come easy to you, maybe it doesn’t … maybe you have no idea what it means?!

The beauty of a yoga practise is that we can take our experiences and learning from the mat and into our everyday lives. When practicing yoga do you relax into a pose that feels uncomfortable, or do you fidget and resist the sensations of the pose? And off the mat; do you soften into the uncomfortable or is it your habit to resist and distract?

On a personal level, the word “soften” has become something of a savour. It is a simple and powerful go-to tool that helps me separate myself from an overactive mind. In times of worry and distraction, simply repeating the word in my mind can help to make everything … softer.

And so how do we ‘soften’? Allow your breath to become loose and unrestricted, with each exhale allow another layer of surrender, have faith, be present, feel the space in the discomfort and observe the transformation 💫

There are many retreat offerings out there—and we understand how important it is to find one that truly gives you what you need. 🙏🏻

But first, ask yourself: Do you know what you need?
Is it simply a break… or are you ready to go deeper? ✨

Are you looking for:

👉🏻 A restorative retreat—a chance to slow down, recharge, and gently explore a deeper spiritual practice in a way that feels meaningful and accessible to you?

👉🏻 A complete reset—time away from the demands of everyday life, with space to breathe, reflect, release what’s weighing you down, and return home with a fresh perspective and renewed sense of clarity?

👉🏻 Something more lasting—an experience that goes beyond the retreat itself; one that inspires meaningful change, offers ongoing connection and support, and equips you with practical tools to integrate what you’ve learned into daily life? A chance to step into a new way of living—with more ease, purpose, and possibility. 🙌🏻

At Roam, our intention is simple:

To create an experience that leaves you feeling empowered.

We offer ideas, tools, and techniques that help you reconnect with yourself—so whatever brings you here, you leave feeling inspired, supported, and more aligned with the life that feels right for you.

We’re always open for a conversation—send us a DM or explore more through the website link in bio👆🏻

We do what we do because, at one point, we had to be willing to shine our own light.
What we discovered changed us—what resonated, inspired, and supported us—and now we’re passionate about sharing that with others, so you can shine your light too. ✨

I’ve recently been devouring any insights I can find around “Fear”

For those who don’t know, I worked a steady 9-5 in corporate for many years before finally taking a leap of faith to follow my passion, Roam Retreats, about 7years ago.
It’s been a rollercoaster 5 years! 🫣

Following your Passion is not an easy road. With it opens the flood gates of Fear and all the juicy stuff that comes with that – self-doubt, imposter syndrome, endless “what ifs?” 😵‍💫

Theres so much masculine language around conquering your fear - “kicking fear in the ass!” but I LOVED how Elizabeth changes the perspective.

Anything you fight, will fight you back 👊

Fear has energy. It shows you are invested. It shows there is something exciting brewing.

The key is to walk hand in hand within the fear recognizing what an amazing force it is. Use it as your fuel to move forward.

Wishing you a weekend full of vitality, curiosity, passion… and a sprinkling of fear 😉
