From the operating room to training the surgeons of tomorrow, Dr. Rui Miguel Casaca has spent the past two decades advancing surgical practice and sharing his expertise with the next generation.
What started as a passion for surgery grew into a broader mission: developing an expertise in complex thoracic and upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgical procedures, advancing to the position of Assistente Graduado within the Surgical Department, coordinating the Upper Digestive Unit , focusing on the surgical management of complex tumors affecting the esophagus, stomach, and esophagogastric junction and refining a world-class surgical unit from the ground up. Behind his passion, stays his dream to educate the next generation of surgeons by sharing video-guided surgical techniques and lecturing globally to set new benchmarks for high-volume cancer reference centers.
Modern surgical oncology is about more than treating cancer. It’s about helping patients recover safely, return to their lives sooner, and preserve the quality of life that matters to them.
