Today, the Rwanda Paediatric Association (RPA) successfully convened the Symposium on Improving Neonatal Care and Outcomes under the theme: "From Survival to Thriving: Advancing Quality, Equity, and Data Accuracy in Neonatal Care."

The symposium brought together 100 clinicians, specialists, policymakers, and partners committed to improving the health and well-being of newborns in Rwanda.

Together, we reviewed the burden and trends of neonatal mortality, shared evidence-based interventions, discussed critical challenges in neonatal care, and developed practical recommendations to strengthen prevention, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition, infection control, and quality improvement across the continuum of care.

We are proud that all symposium objectives were achieved. More importantly, a clear path forward emerged: strengthening implementation of proven interventions, improving quality and equity of care, enhancing data use for decision-making, and fostering continued collaboration to ensure that every newborn in Rwanda not only survives but thrives.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers, panelists, participants, partners, and supporters who contributed to the success of this important event.

🌍 Strengthening immunization. Empowering pediatric leaders. Advancing child health.

The Rwanda Pediatric Association proudly participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on β€œVaccines to Vaccination”, held in Kampala, Uganda πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬ from 9–10 April 2026.

Organized by the International Pediatric Association, hosted by the Uganda Paediatric Association, and supported through a non-promotional educational grant from GlaxoSmithKline, this regional workshop brought together pediatric experts from Gavi Anglophone African countries.

πŸ’‘ Over two days of rich discussions and knowledge exchange, participants strengthened their capacity on both the scientific foundations of vaccines and the programmatic strategies for effective vaccine introductionβ€”with a shared goal: increasing coverage and reaching zero-dose children.

🀝 This experience further reinforces RPA’s commitment to collaboration, capacity building, and translating knowledge into action to ensure that every child is reached, protected, and given a healthy start in life.
