Gedarif State Ministry of Health Moves to Establish Three Regional Reference Diagnostic Centers in Al Faw, Ar Rahad, and Al Fashaga
The Director General of the Gedarif State Ministry of Health and Acting Minister, Dr. Ahmed Al-Amin Adam, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening diagnostic services and enhancing the state’s laboratory referral system. He announced the Ministry’s plan to establish three regional reference diagnostic centers in the localities of Al Faw, Ar Rahad, and Al Fashaga as part of its strategy to expand healthcare services, bring high-quality diagnostic services closer to communities, reduce the cost of travel and treatment, and improve the quality of diagnostic services across the state.
The announcement was made during a meeting held today in his office with a delegation from Hippocrates Medical Enterprises, led by Ms. Ilham Abubakr, in the presence of Ms. Sarah Abdulrahman, Director General of Laboratories and Medical Research, and Eng. Suleiman Mohamed Salih, Director of the Medical Engineering Department.
The Acting Minister expressed the Ministry’s aspiration to further expand cooperation and coordination with Hippocrates Medical Enterprises - Sudan in ways that will positively contribute to the advancement of diagnostic services in the state. He noted that the first batch of equipment supplied through this partnership, consisting of seven hematology analyzers, represents a successful outcome of the collaboration between the two parties and has already contributed to strengthening laboratory services in healthcare facilities.
He further explained that the next phase will focus on enhancing reference diagnostic capacity, particularly for the diagnosis of malaria and typhoid fever, which are among the state’s priority public health concerns. He emphasized the importance of introducing modern technologies and improving the quality of laboratory testing in accordance with recognized standards.
For her part, Ms. Ilham Abubakr, General Manager of Hippocrates Medical Enterprises - Sudan, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Gedarif State Ministry of Health and enhancing joint coordination to support the development of diagnostic services. She highlighted the company’s dedication to providing comprehensive after-sales services, continuous technical support, training, research collaboration, quality assurance, the provision of reference testing services, equipment management, and the prompt resolution of technical issues, all aimed at improving diagnostic performance across healthcare institutions throughout the state.
This collaboration forms part of the Gedarif State Ministry of Health’s broader efforts to modernize the medical laboratory system, expand reference diagnostic services, improve the quality of healthcare, and enhance access to specialized medical services for citizens across all localities of Gedarif State.
