Research and education are essential components of lipid clinics. Research helps improve the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of lipid disorders, while participation in clinical trials and patient registries supports the development of new therapies. Integrating research into clinical practice contributes to better prevention and management of ASCVD and other lipid-related conditions.
Continuous education for clinic staff, healthcare professionals, and patients is equally important to ensure optimal care. Ongoing learning through educational networks, scientific literature, and training activities helps professionals stay updated on advances in lipidology. Patient education, ideally involving patient organizations and caregivers, also plays a key role in improving disease understanding and treatment adherence.
The Consensus Statement recommends several approaches to support these goals: https://eas.to/lcn-consensus-2026-harmonization-education
