UNDERSTANDING THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE DHĀTUS
Part 1 – Rasa Dhātu

Most students of Ayurveda learn that Rasa Dhātu corresponds to plasma, lymph and nourishment.

But Rasa is much more than a physical tissue.

It is our capacity to receive nourishment from life.

A healthy Rasa Dhātu helps us feel:
✨ Supported
✨ Connected
✨ Content
✨ Emotionally nourished

When Rasa becomes disturbed, we may experience feelings of emptiness, loneliness, emotional instability or oversensitivity.

In clinical practice, I often observe that symptoms attributed solely to stress or anxiety can sometimes reflect depletion of Rasa.

Before we can build strength, resilience or vitality, we must first be nourished.

Everything begins with Rasa.

We warmly invite you to a special Ayurveda cooking course at Rasayana Wellness

Date: May 24
Time: 10:00 – 14:00

This time, the course will be led by our former student Fredrika, an experienced Ayurvedic Health Practitioner who completed her training in 2017 under the guidance of Dr Sangeeta.

After her studies, Fredrika traveled to Kerala, India to deepen her knowledge of Ayurveda.. During this time, she developed a strong passion for Ayurvedic cooking, which has since become her main focus.

Fredrika has returned to India many times, living in both New Delhi and Kochi. There, she expanded her culinary knowledge by working alongside Indian chefs and learning traditional home-style Ayurvedic cooking from local families. She has also gained experience in Bengali cuisine through work in a Shanti restaurant kitchen.

Alongside her culinary path, Fredrika has continued her studies in yoga. She completed her first Hatha yoga teacher training in 2022 at Yogayama, and in 2025 she graduated from culinary school, with her internship at Lilla Ego.

Hanuman Jayanti – What can we learn from Lord Hanuman?

On Hanuman Jayanti we celebrate strength, courage, devotion, humility and service.
Hanuman is known as Sankat Mochan – the remover of difficulties and obstacles.
Hanuman is the son of Vayu, the wind god. In Ayurveda, Vata is related to air and movement, and when Vata is disturbed we experience fear, anxiety, restlessness and instability. Hanuman represents the balanced and powerful form of Vayu /Prana– controlled energy, direction, strength and devotion. Therefore Hanuman is sometimes also associated with removing Vata-related suffering – fear, nervousness, instability of mind.
Hanuman teaches us something very important:
Strength is not only physical strength.
True strength is humility, discipline, devotion and service.
He could move faster than the wind, change his size at will and cross the ocean, but he always remained humble and devoted.
As written in Hanuman Chalisa:
Sthula rupa dhari Lanka jarava
Sukshma rupa dhari Siya hi dikhava
In his gross form he burned Lanka,
In his subtle form he appeared before Goddess Sita.
This teaches us that true power is the ability to be both strong and gentle, powerful and humble, visible and invisible when needed.
