It's common for people to rest for a few days, feel better and assume the problem has resolved.
Unfortunately, that's not always the case.
Some locked knees improve because inflammation settles, but if the underlying cause remains, symptoms may return during everyday activities such as climbing stairs, squatting or exercising.
Recurring locking, swelling or difficulty moving your knee shouldn't be ignored. Early assessment may help identify the cause before it leads to further joint damage.
