There is a very specific type of guilt that capable people carry.
It is the guilt of looking at a life that is objectively great on paper:

We think: "Not now. I have things to do. Don't be selfish."
Why does this happen?

It isn't because we don't have needs.

It's because we learned, often a long time ago, that ignoring our needs was the best way to survive and be "good." ๐Ÿ˜‡

We analyse our past. We figure out our triggers. We realise exactly why we are the way we are. And then... we do the exact same thing again next week.

I share a formula that explains why we get stuck: Familiar = Safe.

Your body doesn't care if a habit is "bad" for you. It only cares if that habit is "familiar." If it helped you survive in the past, your body will fight to keep it.

โš ๏ธ But there is a hidden danger in being so good at coping.
You might forget to stop.

Coping is like holding your breath to dive underwater. Itโ€™s a necessary, short-term skill to get through a tough patch.

Self-abandonment is trying to live underwater permanently.

โš ๏ธ Many of us are still "coping" with situations: bad jobs, draining relationships, unsustainable paces that should have ended years ago. We have normalised the state of emergency. ๐Ÿคฏ
