Period pain intensity can be proactively managed before our cycle.
I realise the most efficient way to do so, is to work with our body's natural shifts.
⚖️ Here is the high-leverage movement timeline:
🏋️‍♀️Weeks 1 & 2 (Post-Period): The body is primed for strength and fast recovery. So do your hardest core work here.
Movements like hanging leg lifts, or adding weights to your glute bridges and bird-dogs.
🧑‍🩰Week 3 (Post-Ovulation): Energy levels start to shift. If ya no longer up for heavy straining, transition into stability and mobility. Think Pilates-style side kick or stability ball roll-outs.
🚶‍♀️Week 4: Time to chill and drop the heavy tension. Goal is blood flow and clear fluid retention.
Eg Cat-Cows, Supine Twists, and brisk walking.
⚠️Disclaimer: Sharing my personal journey as one without underlying clinical period complications. This is meant for standard cycle discomfort not complex chronic conditions.
🔖Save this for your next cycle.
Next, how I finally learnt to love my body and stopped dreading cooking.
More posts on how to make a healthy lifestyle feel efficient instead of exhausting coming up.

Period pains are a nightmare some months. Other months, it passes by with just a mild ache.
I'm curious why so and I don’t want my productivity to be at the mercy of my ovaries.

📈So I started tracking my habits to figure how to hack period pain before it started.

🩸There are working parts to period health, but I realize I can proactively manage the pain through targeted physical activity. Here’s the summary:

💪1. We can further increase our pain threshold
During our bleed, our uterus contracts to shed its lining. If our nervous system is very reactive, the brain registers these movements as an emergency.

🏋️‍♀️Core conditioning raises our pain threshold and releases endorphins (hello natural painkillers). It trains the brain to register the contractions as a background hum rather than an emergency.

🌬️ 2. Upgrading our oxygen supply
Cramps happen when the uterine muscle contracts so tightly that it temporarily pinches off its oxygen supply. Regular conditioning keeps blood vessels efficient. Steady oxygen delivery prevents those oxygen-starved spasms from taking over.

Working on these over the month thus pre-emptively reduces the pain.

💕 Share this with besties with period woes.
🔖Stay tuned for Part 2. I’ll share how to exercise (and when) to reduce period pains.

To the woman who thinks emotions are a liability in this world: I see you.
I used to think that staying strong meant staying numb. I trusted logic. I could not understand emotions and dismissed feelings as a burden.

But I’ve learned that shielding oneself from feeling isn't living. It’s avoiding.

If you feel like you have to be independent, but you’re exhausted...

Good news: This hyper-independent version of you isn't your true essence. Circumstances made you this way. Life broke your heart, so you built a fortress to cope.

The truth is vulnerability isn’t weakness. It’s simply taking off the armour so the real you can resurface to experience the fullness of Life.

Your true essence is of Love, of ease, of playfulness.

There is space for your emotions in this world. There always was. ✨

P.S. How to survive weeks of little sleep?

Have roommates who match your crazy and stay up yapping until the morning.

The past weeks have been exhausting and tumultuous.
But I guess an 🥚needs to crack before something new can emerge
🌱
I returned from a retreat, and it was the most profound I've had in years.
It brought me back to Truth which I forget when everyday life takes over.
The most salient part though..

Being touched by something Divine
🌷
For someone who spent much of her younger life feeling alone, I've no words to describe the wonder of languishing in that Love.
To feel held and supported by a ❤️ so vast and all-encompassing.
👣
I left some things behind at the retreat. I don't know what they were.
But the 🌊carried away emotions and energies my body was ready to release and I walked away lighter.
I'll leave you with 3 questions that were posed:
🍃 What do you want to let go of?
🐣 What are you ready to change?
❔ Who do you want to become?

Thank you Akhileshwara — for your guidance to uncover Love and Light.
🌸For being the pivotal presence after 9 years of healing.
And for springboarding me once again toward something far greater than I can fathom. 🪷🙏

Thank you .14 for capturing this precious memory. 🌈
