๐Ÿ‰ Dragon Boat Festival is just 2 days away!

Counting down to your favourite rice dumplings (็ฒฝๅญ)? Whether you enjoy savoury, nyonya, or alkaline dumplings, it is easy to have one (or a few) too many during the festive season ๐Ÿ˜‹

After indulging in glutinous rice and rich fillings, some people may experience bloating, heaviness, or digestive discomfort.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tian Shu (ST25 / ๅคฉๆžข) is a commonly used acupoint traditionally associated with digestive wellness. It is located about 3 finger-widths away from the centre of the belly button (on both the left and right sides of the abdomen).

If you are feeling overly full after your dumpling feast, try gently massaging this point on both sides of your abdomen for 1 to 2 minutes using light pressure โœจ

A simple self-care tip to help you enjoy the celebrations more comfortably ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฒ Happy Dragon Boat Festival!

It is non-invasive and designed with childrenโ€™s comfort in mind, often used as a complementary care option alongside medical advice.

Paediatric Tuina (ๅฐๅ„ฟๆŽจๆ‹ฟ) is a gentle, non-invasive TCM therapy specially designed for babies and children aged 0โ€“9 years old. Using massage and acupressure techniques, specific acupoints and meridians are stimulated to support the bodyโ€™s natural healing and overall wellness.

In TCM, children have developing organs and immunity systems, making them more sensitive to external changes. Paediatric Tuina helps regulate the flow of qi and blood to support better balance within the body.

โœจ Commonly used to support:
โ€ข Frequent flu & cough
โ€ข Poor appetite & digestion
โ€ข Constipation & stomach discomfort
โ€ข Sleep disturbances
โ€ข Overall immunity & wellness

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), frequent coughs, flu, sinus issues, and low immunity are often linked to the bodyโ€™s internal balance. Common patterns include:

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Weak Lung Qi
The lungs help defend the body against external pathogens. When Lung Qi is weak, children may be more prone to coughs, flu, and sinus discomfort.

๐Ÿš Weak Spleen Qi
The spleen supports digestion and nourishment. Poor appetite, low energy, and frequent illnesses may be signs the body is not getting enough support internally.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Immature Wei Qi
Wei Qi is the bodyโ€™s โ€œprotective energy.โ€ In children, this system is still developing, which is why they may catch illnesses more easily.

โœจ TCM focuses on strengthening the body naturally through treatments such as paediatric tuina, herbal support, acupuncture, and lifestyle adjustments.

Gentle and non-invasive, paediatric tuina is commonly used to support childrenโ€™s overall wellness, digestion, sleep, and immunity naturally.

Every childโ€™s constitution is different, so treatment should always be personalised.

Tension headaches can sometimes be aggravated by certain foods and drinks.

3 foods to avoid if you experience frequent tension headaches:

โ€ข Alcohol
In TCM, alcohol generates internal dampness and heat, which may contribute to recurring headache patterns.

โ€ข Spicy and deep-fried foods
These foods are believed to increase internal heat, which can aggravate headache symptoms during flare-ups.

โ€ข Excessive cold drinks and raw foods
Over time, these may weaken digestion in TCM terms, contributing to dampness, heaviness, and foggy headaches.

If your tension headaches keep recurring, your diet may be part of the picture. Read more about the causes of tension headaches and TCM treatment approaches here:
