This beautiful herb has long been linked to motherhood, as it's name suggest! Even it's botanical name suggests lion (Leonurus) strength of a heart (cardiaca).
The use of Motherwort is likened to treating a mother with "empty nest syndome". It works by delighting and strengthening the heart of an anxious mother (think stress and heart palpitations).
Aside from being a heart tonic, it's also an emmanogogue (inducing and regulating menstruation), at the same time relieves menstrual cramps.
For the digestive system, it supports a stressed-out person by improving liver function, and in turn a better appetite.
