Patsy Chia, 64, (right) and her mother, Mary Lai, shared a close bond. So it went beyond Patsy’s wildest imagination that her mother would be stricken with dementia in 2006 at the age of 73.

Thus began Patsy’s journey of caring for her mother for the next 10 years. From watching her mother’s personality change to witnessing her slow descent into the final stages of dementia before passing on in 2016, Patsy trudged on with the support of her family and friends and from the memories of her mother’s love.

This photo of Patsy and her mum was snapped in March 2015. It signals happier times, but above all, it signals a daughter’s love for her mum – a love that knows no bounds.

What do we do when it comes to "'End of Life" situation with your loved one?

It is only the beginning of the next journey with dearest mum as she progresses on to the advanced stage of her dementia. I know it will not be an easy one but only another challenge.

Tube feeding ? It is a big question doctors will be asking you. Ensuring she is comfortable and with the best care we can provide her is important.
