Must be sick, stupid or, really f**king hate myself...
🤡🤪

Apparently, dragging yourself across the Arctic Circle once, sleep deprived, frozen, hallucinating and questioning every life decision once… wasn’t enough.

Last time, the humbled me-hard....HARD!

I missed the cutoff due my own complacency and it's taken a bigger chunk out of me than I can stand, and I can't let go of it.

Here’s the thing though, failure has a funny way of leaving unfinished business in your head.

Most people experience discomfort and immediately move away from it.
Some of us stare directly at the thing that broke us and think:
“Yeah f**k it, let's go again.”

So here we are, Part Deux ✌🏻. Another expedition across the Arctic wilderness. Another battle with cold, sleep deprivation, self doubt and my own stupidity.

But this time: Smarter (well, more experienced). More prepared (more- or-less). Less ego (errrrm). More respect for the environment (give you that). Still probably slightly delusional though (oh f**k yeah). 🤡

If at first you don’t succeed…book another 463km race across the Arctic Circle and see what happens. 😁

All happy and smiley at the start, but not quite so much at the end 🫤.

It's been a while, but I've written a brand new blog on my experience in the Arctic .

If you followed the adventure with me, thank you and if you want to know more (in very sweary detail), head to the link in my bio: '463km Arctic F**k Up'.

I'd love to answer any questions.

Owfff, Snowy WTF man!!!

These are TWO weeks apart. Right now my body is wondering what on earth is going on. To be fair I've just ragged it 300km across the Arctic, it's probably still jet lagged, I've been eating like a nine year old for the last two weeks, and rolling the wave of a weekend bender.

Most of this is just literally water retention, bloating and stored glycogen. When I jumped on the Inbody (body fat measurement kit) the body fat reading was still pretty low. But wow man, two weeks! I'm actually pretty impressed and strangely proud of it. 😬

Watch d'ya reckon???

My body-is-absolutely fried! I feel like I've been kicked the 💩 out of...

Right now, the post-Arctic body report reads like this…

❄️ CNS = fried
Brain feels like an old Nokia on 3% battery. Reaction speed down, motivation patchy, decision making questionable (more than usual).

❄️ Heart rate = doing its own thing
Resting HR still higher than normal. Body stuck in “Oi, we’re surviving” mode even though I’m back somewhere warm holding a coffee.

❄️ DOMS = hanging around like an unwanted house guest
Every muscle remembers pulling a sled uphill into a headwind at 3am. Cheers for that.

❄️ Ankles & tendons = stiff as a board
Cold + repetitive load + fatigue = joints moving like I’m 87 years old getting out of a Ford Fiesta.

❄️ Night sweats = delightful
Went from -30°C survival mode to waking up drenched like I’ve run a marathon in my sleep, with the sheets absolutely p**sed-wet-through

So why’s all this happening?

Because a multi-day ultra is basically telling your body:

👉 Don’t sleep properly
👉 Burn everything you’ve got
👉 Keep moving in extreme cold
👉 Make thousands of decisions while exhausted
👉 Repeat for a week

Physiologically that means nervous system fatigue, hormonal chaos, inflammation, tissue damage and a sympathetic nervous system that hasn’t yet got the memo that the threat has gone.

In other words…

The body is safe, but it doesn’t believe it yet.

And this is the bit people don’t see on Instagram.

The quiet rebuild phase.

Less hero stuff.
More naps.
More calories.
More patience.

Even a week after, it's still all about recovery.

Anyway.

Still buzzing.
Still grateful.
Still slightly broken.

That Friday Feeling 🍻

There used to be a time I’d take the p**s out of anyone ordering a 0% beer.
Now? I actually rate it.

Hear me out…

When you’re chasing fat loss but still want to enjoy the social side of life — this little swap can make a massive difference.

I’m not saying go teetotal (let’s be real, I’m ex-squaddie — I love a drink and always will). But for most of the blokes I coach, socialising and entertaining is part of the job.
Problem is, feeling rough the next day crushes your training, motivation, and any progress you made during the week.

A simple fix?
Go one-for-one.
A couple of “real” beers, then switch to 0%.

You’ll still get that buzz, keep your calories down, avoid the kebab stop on the way home, and wake up feeling semi-human instead of a co**se.

Honestly, it’s completely changed my mind about it.
A client gifted me these 0%’s and I’ve gotta say — impressed.
(Still need a real one to kick-off, obviously 😅)

Try it this weekend, lads.
Keep that Friday Feeling rolling into Saturday.

….especially when you’re in Singapore.

❄️ 470km. Across the Arctic Circle. ❄️

That’s what I’ve signed myself up for in five months’ time.

• Temperatures dropping to -40°
• Winds up to 50mph
• Snowshoes, ice spikes, and cross-country skis (which, by the way, I’ve never even used before—and the first time I’ll clip them on will be during the race itself)
• All while dragging my supplies, self-sufficient, across frozen wilderness.

Oh, and I’m doing this with an Achilles injury I’ve been carrying for the past year.

Why? Because sometimes the point isn’t whether the conditions are perfect. It’s about proving to yourself you can rise above them.

My training from now until the start line won’t be about fancy equipment or the perfect environment. It’ll be about:
• Building an engine that doesn’t quit.
• Conditioning my body to move forward when everything hurts.
• Learning to suffer well, not avoid suffering.
• Strengthening the mind just as much as the body.

This isn’t about comfort. It’s about showing up broken and finishing stronger.

Follow my journey as I prepare for the world’s toughest race—470km across the Arctic.

Let’s see how far grit, stubbornness, and a little madness can take me.

Ka freezing powww 👊🏻
