Bad sleep may not just show up as eye bags and brain fog.
A new Nature study found that sleep duration was linked to biological ageing patterns across 17 organ systems.
Researchers saw a U-shaped pattern: both less than 6 hours and more than 8 hours of sleep were associated with faster biological ageing.
This does not prove sleep causes organs to age faster, but it does suggest sleep may be an important signal of overall health.
If you are always sleeping too little, sleeping too much, or waking up tired, it may be worth paying attention.
