Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas and may cause upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, or pain that spreads to the back.
It may be linked to causes such as gallstones, alcohol use, smoking, certain medicines, or high triglyceride levels.
If abdominal pain is sudden, persistent, or severe, medical advice may be needed.
