If your first instinct whenever your neck feels stiff is to crack it, you're not alone. That quick pop can feel good, but if you're back to cracking it 10 minutes later, the relief clearly isn't lasting.

Instead of constantly chasing that temporary feeling, try giving your neck and upper back what they actually need: controlled mobility and endurance.

These 3 movements are a simple place to start.

⚠️ If an exercise causes pain, dizziness, tingling, numbness or other unusual symptoms, stop and get assessed.

How often do you catch yourself cracking your neck?

Ever catch yourself leaning onto one hip while waiting for the MRT or standing with your chest and hips pushed out? đź‘€

These positions might feel comfortable or even look flattering, but holding them for long periods can put unnecessary stress on your lower back and hips.

Movement is key. Shift your weight, take a few steps, or change positions regularly to give your body a break throughout the day.

đź’¬ Have you noticed yourself standing like this? Let us know in the comments!

Most of us don't even realise we're doing it. You're waiting for the train. Standing in a queue. Chatting with a friend.

Without thinking, your weight shifts onto one hip because it feels comfortable.

The posture itself isn't the problem. The issue begins when that same position becomes your default for minutes, hours, and eventually years.

Small habits might not seem important today, but repeated over time, they can influence how your muscles work, how your joints are loaded, and how your body feels at the end of the day.

The best posture isn't a perfect posture. It changes often.

Comment "HIP" if you catch yourself standing like this ever so often!

How strong and stable are your knees, really?

This challenge looks simple, but it takes good control, balance, and lower limb stability to do it well. Give it a try and let us know how you score. Bonus points if you challenge a friend to beat your result.

Tag us in your attempt. We'd love to see it!

Crossing the finish line of your first 5km run feels amazing... until your calves suddenly decide they've had enough.

Many runners immediately blame dehydration, but muscle cramps often have a much bigger story behind them.

How you trained, how quickly you started, your running mechanics, and whether your muscles were prepared for the demands of race day can all play a role.

The good news? Most of these factors can be improved.

Training isn't just about building fitness. It's about preparing your body to handle the workload so you can enjoy running with fewer setbacks.

Have you ever cramped up during a run or sporting event? Tell us what happened.

We're glad that the American Physical Therapy Association updated its clinical practice guideline for physiotherapist management of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) / total knee replacement (TKR).

Importantly, these latest recommendations closely align with the care and protocols we already provide for our TKR patients at Rehab & Beyond, including:

- Progressive Strength Training
- High-Intensity NMES
- Movement Pattern Retraining
- Elevation in Flexion

It is reassuring to see our clinical practices validated by these updated global guidelines as we continue to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

When you're feeling under the weather, even getting out of bed can feel like a workout.

While this isn't the time to push yourself through an intense exercise session, staying completely still all day can sometimes leave you feeling even stiffer.

If your symptoms allow, these gentle movements can help loosen tight muscles, encourage comfortable movement, and make your body feel a little less sluggish while you recover.

Save this for the next time a cold or flu leaves you feeling achy.

07/08/2026

When you're down with a cold or the flu, it can feel like you've just finished the toughest workout of your life, even though you've barely left the sofa.

Those aches aren't because you've suddenly become weak. They're a sign that your immune system is working hard behind the scenes to fight off the infection.

While it's tempting to "push through" and carry on with your usual workouts, your body is already putting in a huge amount of work. Giving it the chance to rest and recover is often exactly what it needs.

The aches won't last forever—but looking after yourself while you're unwell can make the recovery journey a little smoother.

Stay tuned for our next Reel, where we'll share a few gentle movements that may help ease those aches.

Many people worry they'll never exercise normally again after lumbar fusion surgery.

The truth is that movement is an important part of recovery—but the right movement at the right time.

Recovery is typically progressive:
âś… Restore flexibility and nerve mobility
âś… Rebuild core stability
âś… Improve walking endurance and fitness
âś… Regain the strength needed for work, sports and daily life

This reel shows just one sample exercise from each stage of rehabilitation. Your programme will vary depending on:
• The level and type of fusion
• Your symptoms
• Your surgeon's instructions
• Your recovery progress

There's no "one-size-fits-all" timeline, so don't compare your recovery with someone else's.

With the right guidance, many people return to work, travel, recreational sports and the activities they enjoy.
