National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) is a national specialty centre that enables NUHโ€™s University Dental Cluster (UDC) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Dentistry (FOD) to operate within NUHS under an academic health centre governance model, with the objective of transforming oral health in Singapore and nurturing the next generation of oral health professionals.

A special shoutโ€‘out to our NUCOHS team, who received the Incredible Care for the Planet Gold Award for the project โ€œRethink the Surgical Gown - Right Protection, Less Water.โ€ By addressing the overuse of singleโ€‘use sterile gowns while maintaining infection control standards, the team avoided 2,400 gowns in six months, preventing 470 kg of clinical waste and reducing an estimated 1,192 kg of COโ‚‚ emissions.

It is a powerful reminder that simple, evidenceโ€‘based changes in clinical practice can make a meaningful impact on sustainability without compromising safe, highโ€‘quality patient care.
