Hello everyone! Hope you'll are having a great start to the week. Let's hear about some sleep promoting foods today, to help you sleep better through the night.

Some foods like a warm glass of milk, a few almonds, chamomile tea, walnuts, fatty fish, rice and bananas induce sleep and increase the duration of uninterrupted sleep at nights. How do they help? Some foods contain sleep regulating hormones (melatonin and serotonin), while others contain stress reducing hormones (cortisol); both of which promote sleep.

Nobody knows your body better than yourself. Do let me know if there is some food that works well for you. I have found that an early dinner and nothing else after that, works best for me!

Good morning everyone! Mr X. is trying to make conscious efforts to change his sleep habits. Thank you all for helping out.
Time for some "Monday Gyaan," did you know that interrupted sleep is more harmful than lack of sleep? Interrupted sleep increases anxiety, depression, stress, negative moods and reduces productivity by making it hard to think clearly. While it's okay to take a short midday nap (of not more than 20 - 30 minutes), make sure to give your body it's much needed night's rest. Aim for 6 to 7 hours of UNINTERRUPTED sleep at nights.
Stay tuned to learn more about food in relation to sleep.

Hello and good morning all! Thank you for helping out with Mr. X's sleeping habits. Yes, you're right - an adult needs about 6-7 hours of sleep. Mr. X has another doubt. He sleeps for 4 hours at night and fits in a daytime nap of another 2 hours. Do you guys agree with his routine now? Yes/No and why?

Does interrupted sleep work the same as a good night's rest? Let's hear your opinions on this!

Good morning everyone! Hope you all slept well:) Thank you for helping out Mr. X, he needs more sleep! Now that we have established the sleep-diet connection, let's find out why? It's the H word again - HORMONES!!! Lack of sleep increases the "go and eat" hormone (ghrelin) and decreases the "stop eating now" hormone (leptin). This confuses the brain; and sleep deprived people tend to eat more and cannot sense a feeling of fullness.

So, how many hours of sleep would you recommend to Mr X?

Hello peeps, I have a question for you all. Could you help me with this?
Mr. X is a very health conscious person. He hardly skips a meal, eats plenty of fruits and vegetables and avoids all processed foods. He sleeps for 4 to 5 hours daily. He is also quite active, making sure to get his 30-40 minutes of exercise everyday. However, he still has trouble losing his excess weight. Where do you think he went wrong? What must he do/not do to get back in shape?

Good day everyone! Day 2 of lockdown. How about engaging in board games to spend family time fruitfully? Also, try the 8 shaped walking indoors. Your family could line up and train-walk to make exercise more fun.

For those having a hard time trying to get work done with toddlers around, engage them with some indoor activities like play dough or a small water tub with pichkari or syringe.

A home lockdown is also a perfect time for your brain to connect instantly with food. Be watchful of what you are eating too! Drink plenty of fluids and eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
