Blessed Sabbath everyone.

Hope everyone's had a lovely week.

If you haven't, take a moment to reflect on what you can still be grateful for today despite the not so ideal week.

Prayer works.

And its when we least expect it that God reveals the answers to us.

From the least expected person,

to the least expected circumstance.

All we need to be able to do is listen with an open heart and humble spirit.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

Matthew 7: 7-8

Dad is 85 years old.

Am making up for lost time I did not get to spend with Dad during my teenage and young adulting years because of commitment to water polo and also spending time with then girlfriends!

Taking time off work to be with Dad, learning more about our past and his childhood.

Entrepreneurship allows me that flexibility to plan my time this way.

Valuable life lessons and wisdom that I can apply to fatherhood, being a better husband, and even in entrepreneurship.

Cherishing this season of life!

Thank you Dad for taking time.

I love you! ♥️🤞♥️

The heavens were very kind to us last Friday...

because we were blessed with good cloudy weather in the afternoon.

And the storm only came when we arrived back at SCCCI which was where we began our Netwalking.

3 location stops with each location stop having group rotations and facilitated well created questions to help each member share more with their designated group.

Each group accompanied by Council Members from the committee who also had their chance to share how they've been successful in their business, and for members to engage and ask questions.

My 3rd time planning, hosting and facilitating for this Netwalking series and so happy once again to see all smiles and receive positive feedback.

So wonderful to also have participants Terry Lee and Haotian Gao come up on stage to share something close to their heart. 2mins of impromptu "TED style" engagement. 🥳

Thanks 新加坡中华总商会 SCCCI once again for supporting with your team.

I've known Adrian Tay for a couple of years now.

And just the other day his name popped up in my head.

I reached out to catch up.

We hadn't seen each other in maybe 2 years.

No agenda.

Just catch up.

I wanted to know if there was any way I could support him in anything he is currently working on in this season of life.

Sharing how I have been supporting others with various examples definitely helped him better understand where I am now in my own season of life.

It was a very authentic and meaningful kopi catchup.

Feeling blessed.

And a heart full of gratitude.

That's a table full of ALOT of plates of food!

Well... the occasion called for the feast. 🍽

Thank you Reginald Koh Dawn Fiona Cher Cheryl Lau for the lovely conversation and company that afternoon.

But more importantly, for the care, love and support as the The Financial Coconut team behind the Wise & Shine show that I had the privilege of joining and co-hosting with Dawn Fiona Cher since maybe episode #60 plus.

till our final episode which was #160.

From first being a guest on the show to eventually co-hosting it with Dawn Fiona Cher.

I've grown so much as a host as we manuevered multiple difficult conversations (and guests!) to tease out and dive deeper into what our guests have to share with our audience.

But most importantly, I've grown from the lived experiences and expert knowledge of every guest that took time from their busy schedules to share.

Extra mention to Raven Lim and Taro Ishida who were there when I first joined but moved on to other adventures after. 🤗

Special mention to some memorable guests who are also now friends.

Fun-fact:

I've co-hosted with Dawn for more than a year and she just only discovered some things about my past experiences.

Like being the second shop owner to open along Haji Lane in 2005. Selling Ice Cream and vintage reconstructed homewares!

haha... it goes to show that when we're on set, we are so focused on delivering for the day, that we have little time and space to dive deeper to talk about ourselves in the little pockets of time we have together.

If you'd like to have a chat about my journey and see how that might be relevant with any transition you're going through in life at the moment, drop me a DM.

What a difference seven months make!

The last that Tamsin Greulich-Smith and I met, we committed to doing something each that would contribute to easing some stressors that we'd be experiencing for work.

None of that something happened. 😅

But quite alot of other change happened, probably for the right reasons.

I told Tamsin, its God's work.

Tamsin said the universe is telling us something else,

and we channel our energies towards manifesting on that something else.

Bottom line is that...

some things are not meant to be.

And we transition into the next stage or season of life.

There are lessons and takeaways, which lead to growth and building resilience.

The threshold in our brain to take on more stress expands, and we're able to take in more and do more.

And the brain remembers.

Excited for all the moving parts happening in each of our lives. 🥳💪🙌

Now... we've committed to not waiting till the end of the year for the next catch up!

Let's see if that materialises. 😇

Just three young dudes carrying a cross. ✝️

Twenties...

Thirties...

Forties...

This picture speaks a thousand words.

And I could tell more than a dozen stories of how I've navigated life sometimes successfully but most times unsuccessfully.

And life isn't just about life and death.

Its also about overcoming obstacles.

Its about the people we meet and relationships we've build (and lost) along the way.

Its about how we treat others, more than how others treat us.

Its about trying so damn hard, but still falling flat on our face.

Its about juggling, juggling more things than we physically, emotionally and financially can hold.

Its about how lousy we feel about ourselves that we dont deserve love, care and support from the people around us.

But when I surrendered it all to God.

The pride, the insecurities, the anger, the shame, the list goes on...

The weight of all that just went away.

The stress went away.

And He will provide for our needs.

God left me with this message.

"Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
- Isaiah 40:10

Maybe it is for you too. ♥️✝️♥️

If Anantha Krishna were to play the game of career ladder, I think it would not be possible to guess his job!

Or maybe yes?

Let's try...

1. Does he love his job?

Yes!

2. Is his job creative? or Does he make things with his hands, feet, or brain?

Hmm... not creative but must be innovative and no making things with hands, feet or brain.

3. Is what you produce big or small?

Quite big.

4. If his career was a food, what would it be?

3 star Michelin meal.

5. Does he work with famous people? or How expensive are the items he creates?

In the millions.

6. What is the most important thing his job helps people with?

Time.

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction....

and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life and only a few find it."

- Matthew 7: 13-14

This was the first time I came across this bible verse.

Thought I'd share it this weekend.

Some food for thought and reflection as we enter into our day of rest on Sunday.

👉 Harsh word to use with "destruction".

👉 Hard to stomach that the narrow gate is the only one that leads to "life".

👉 Narrow vs Wide

👉 Difficult vs Comfortable

👉 Unpopular vs Popular

👉 Requires intentional individual choice vs Going with the majority

👉 Life of Obedience vs Going with the Flow

Which do you choose?

Happy weekend friends. ♥️

Nice to be able to host friends at home in my wine cellar 🍷.

Christopher Cheong is someone special to me.

15 years ago, I met him at multiple National Schools swimming meets, and managed to convince him and his mum to consider Temasek Junior College as his next institution of study.

He was studying at my alma mater Saint Andrew's Seconday and had also started swimming at the same club as me. So there was more than one area we shared common ground.

Choose TJC he did.

But that same year that he joined, was the same year that I left. 😅

I have always felt bad that I was not able to mentor him personally and help him excel not just at school but also in character and leadership.

So 10 years down the road, during this session, I had a chance to apologise for not being present when he was at TJC.

I also learnt that during that time, he took a gap year to focus on the SEA Games in 2015 where he represented Singapore at the 100m breaststroke event.

Thankfully when I left I had already made plans to bring in someone better than me to take on some of the load. And he did an awesome job.

Transition is never easy.

Speaking to the right people will help navigate with less uncertainty and more confidence.

That's something I've always done pretty well.

Since my first job.

So now all of that really makes sense with everything that I've had a chance to learn and experience in the last 2 decades.

Thanks be to God for the experiences and talents. 🙏✝️🙏
