Mental shift from addiction to survival — where did the thought of alcohol disappear?

For one month, I cycled along the dusty roads of Mexico. Before leaving, I wondered whether the difficult journey — full of physical and mental exhaustion, uncertainty, and isolation — would eventually tempt me to ease the evening fatigue with a beer.

But something unexpected happened. Somewhere between the endless dirt roads, heat, dust, thirst, and daily survival, those thoughts simply disappeared.

What happened that made them fade away?
