On July 16, 17, 22, and 31, 2026, The Energy Nexus Network (TENN) conducted a comprehensive needs assessment for its Energy for Cooking ( ) program, Funded by Community Foundation Ireland through Sunflower Foundation. This initiative marks a major step toward clean cooking solutions in Sierra Leone, designed to reduce health risks associated with traditional cooking methods while promoting environmental sustainability.

Communities including Tokeh, Fogbo, Portee/Rokupa, and Old Wharf have been selected to benefit from this model. As part of the rollout, Afrigas units will be distributed, ensuring safer and more sustainable cooking practices for households across these areas.

On July 28, 2026, as part of its commitment to transparency and productivity in partnership, The Energy Nexus Network (TENN) engaged with Aileen Wynne a representative from GOAL Global. The meeting provided a valuable platform to review the progress of ongoing projects supported by Community Foundation Ireland and Jersey Overseas Aid, reflecting on achievements, addressing challenges, and considering recommendations to enhance future impact.

This engagement went beyond routine project updates, serving as a strategic dialogue to strengthen collaboration and ensure that both organizations remain aligned in their mission. By fostering open communication and sharing insights, TENN and GOAL reaffirmed their dedication to advancing sustainable development, improving livelihoods, and building resilient communities across Sierra Leone.

Through this constructive partnership, TENN and GOAL continue to illuminate their shared vision, delivering innovative, community-driven solutions that empower people and create lasting change.

TENN Forms Facility Management Committee in Kychom Community

On July 20, 2026, The Energy Nexus Network (TENN) engaged with community leaders, members, and fishmongers in Kychom, Kambia District, to establish a Facility Management Committee (FMC) for the newly constructed Cold-room.

The FMC was created to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and long-term sustainability of the Cold-room facility. It is composed of seven members, including representatives from the fishing industry, community leadership, youth leadership, and a dedicated facility manager.

This initiative reflects TENN’s belief that community engagement is central to building sustainable communities. By empowering local stakeholders to take ownership of the Cold-room, TENN strengthens accountability and ensures that the facility continues to serve the needs of the fishing community for years to come.

TENN Advances Sustainable Development with Moveable Charging Centers and Solar Home Systems

This year marks a new era of sustainable development for Sierra Leoneans as The Energy Nexus Network (TENN) has introduced its first-ever moveable charging centers in Jayahun, Banja Junction, Yoyama, and Gbonjema in Moyamba District. In addition, Solar Home Systems (RMBs) were deployed in Kpetima and Korgbortima in Mohamed District.

The installations, carried out on July 7–9, 2026 by We Can Do It Solar Services, were designed to address pressing community challenges such as: Limited access to phone charging facilities, lack of cold water and drinks, and other energy-related needs affecting daily life

These systems are expected to significantly improve livelihoods while promoting sustainable development across the beneficiary communities.

As part of the Financial Inclusion and Innovation Hub project, funded by Jersey Overseas Aid in partnership with Restless Development, The Energy Nexus Network (TENN) visited Bottom Oku, Wellington, Freetown, on July 1st, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to engage with persons with disabilities and explore ways to improve their livelihoods.

TENN will support the installation and development of a Solar PV-powered Integrated Energy Centre (IEC) alongside an inclusive workspace designed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Bottom Oku. The Centre will provide reliable, clean, and affordable electricity to power disability-inclusive enterprises such as barbering, photocopying, printing, sewing, and other productive activities identified by beneficiaries.

At TENN, inclusiveness is a core value. The organization’s mission is to bring hope, purpose, and growth into people’s lives by ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has access to opportunities that foster dignity and economic empowerment.
