THE APGAR SCORE.
The Apgar score is a rapid, standardized assessment of a newborn's health, typically performed by nurses or doctors at 1 and 5 minutes after birth. It evaluates five criteria—Appearance (color), Pulse (heart rate), Grimace (reflex), Activity (muscle tone), and Respiration—scored 0, 1, or 2, with a maximum total score of 10. Scores
7 are considered normal, while lower scores indicate a need for immediate care.

ANKYLOGLOSSIA (TONGUE-TIE)
Ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) is a common congenital condition where a short, tight lingual frenulum restricts tongue movement, often causing breastfeeding difficulties in newborns, such as poor latch, pain, and slow weight gain. It can cause speech, oral hygiene, and feeding issues in older children. Treatments include frenotomy (cutting the tissue) or frenuloplasty.
