What is Alzheimer’s Disease?
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that gradually damages brain cells, leading to problems with memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform daily activities. It is the most common cause of dementia among older adults.

The exact cause of Alzheimer’s disease is not fully understood, but it is associated with:
accumulation of beta-amyloid plaques between brain cells.
Formation of tau protein tangles inside brain cells.
Loss of connections between neurons, leading to brain shrinkage.
Genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.

Factors:
Increasing age (greatest risk factor)
Family history of Alzheimer’s disease
Certain genetic mutations
Cardiovascular diseases (high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity)
Smoking and physical inactivity
Low levels of social and cognitive engagement
