|| An Open Letter to Our Community:
Bridging the Divide to Support Our Youth.
To the Elders, Leaders, Mothers, Fathers, and Members, of Our Community Aweil,
Iam writting this open letter to address aquiet but a desvatating crisis within our community: Our collective failure to support, motivate, and uplift our young people.
Every day, we witness the incredible potential of our youth. They are ambitious, creative, and eager to build a better future. Yet, too often, their dreams are cut short, not by a lack of talent or effort, but by the heavywalls of clan politics, historical disagreements, and generational divides that we continue to maintain. It is to ask ourselves a difficult question: Why do we allow yesterdy's grievances to steal tomorrow's potential?
Cost of Division
When a young person steps forward with an Idea‐‐‐Whether it is starting a business, pursuing higher education, or launching a community initiative‐‐‐the first question asked should be about their vission. Instead the unspoken questions are oftens: What is their family name? Which clan do they belong to? Which side of an old arguments their family stand on?
Dear community by allowing these divisions to dictate who we help, we hurt everyone. We create an environment where:
Talent goes unnoticed: Brilliant young minds are ignored simply because the belong a different faction or clan.
Motivation is crushed: When youth see that hard work matters less than political or tribal alignments, they lose hope and stop trying. The cycle of animosity continues, by forcing the youth to inherit our old rivalries, we guarantee that our community will remain divided for generations to come.
A Calling for Unity and Mentorship
Our youth do not carry the wieght of the past unless we force it onto their shoulders. They want to learn, grow, and succeed. For our community to survive, and thrive. We must shift our mindset from division to collective responsibility.
We must commite to three essential changes:
1. Suport Merit, Not Lineage: When a young person shows promise initiative, or need our support must be unconditional. Bcuz A success for one young person is a success for the entire community.
2. Create safe spaces for growth: We need platforms, Mentorships programs, and community centers where young people can collaborate across clan lines without fear of jugdment or political interference.
3. Lead by example: If we want our youth to be peaceful, innovative, and united, we must show them what untiy looks like. We must prove that our love for their future is stronger than our memory of past disagreements.
Conculsion
The strength of a community is measured by how it treats its most vunerable and its most promising members. Our youth are both. If we continue to withhold our motivation and resources beceause of old divides, we will eventually have no community to protect.
Let us choose to be the generation that breaks the cycle. Lets invest in our young people, celebrate their achievements, and guide them forward‐--Togather as one family.
Sincerely,
Those Who Believe in Our Youth.
