We are happy to announce Matsebula Khayalakhe as one of our 2024 Mandela Washington Fellows! He will be studying Leadership in Civic Engagement at Kansas State University.

Khayalakhe has over five years of experience with food security and hunger programs in Eswatini's higher education institutions. Khayalakhe is currently the founder and executive director of the Lend a Hand Charitable Foundation, which works to address food insecurity and the barriers that prevent orphans and low-income students from achieving success in Eswatini's higher education institutions. He advocates for student success that extends beyond academics. He is a fitness trainer and entrepreneur who owns a gym that offers a comprehensive program to students and faculty to combat noncommunicable diseases and promote an active lifestyle on campus.

Khayalakhe earned a diploma in crop science from North West University and a Bachelor of Science in agronomy from the University of Eswatini. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Khayalakhe intends to continue his work addressing food insecurity and hunger in Eswatini's higher education community through a sustainable livelihood program and a scholarship program.
