PHOTOS:] Minister for Health Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula has lauded MTN Eswatini for helping to expand palliative care following an investment of E160 000.00 towards the Hospice Palliative Care Centre. Minister Matsebula was part of the festivities today, where the Eswatini Hospice at Home was receiving six hospital beds and refurbished building that will allow them to revive their in-patient care unit.

As part of the 20206 21 Days of Y'ello Care, MTN Eswatini bought the beds and not just funded but also helped to refurbish the water supply system of the in-patient unit. This was part of the priority areas which they committed to assist the Ministry of Health with, and the unit's revival will allow the organization to once again offer in-patient palliative and respite care to emaSwati.

Minister Matsebula: "Medical care goes beyond medicine; it also includes the nature of the environment within which a person resides as they receive care, which has to be fit for human habitation and comfortable, especially when receiving palliative care."

Eswatini Hospice at Home receives Government funding via a subvention, and the Ministry also provides medical drugs and supplies to the centre. The Executive Director Zodwa Gamedze commended Government for including organizations that offer palliative care under entities that receive subventions, stating that Eswatini should be proud of such because it is not a norm in other countries.
