According to TCM, the Spleen controls muscles and the Stomach is the origin of fluids keeping all muscles nourished with enough water and electrolytes. So anything affecting the 4 limbs often reflects the state of the SP, ST and the Body Fluids.

- Hand swelling: LU Yang def.
- Feet & ankle edema: KD Yang def.
- Edema of the 4 limbs: SP Yang def.
- Non pitting edema of the 4 limbs: Qi Stagnation & Dampness.
- Acute edema: Wind-Damp invasion in the LU.
- Swelling & pain of the 4 limbs joints: Damp Bi syndrome.
- Swelling & hot pain of the 4 limbs joints: Damp-Heat Bi Syndrome.

*** Bi Syndrome is a TCM disorder causing pain, numbness and or heaviness, and is caused by pathogen invasion & Qi stagnation in the joints of the 4 limbs. For example, arthritis is classified as Bi Syndrome.

Tremors, muscle spasms or cramps, and involuntary limbs movements are all due to internal LV Wind. And LV Wind comes from either LV Yang rising, LV Fire, LV Yin Def. or LV Blood def. in these cases. Treat the root pattern, eliminate the Wind!

- Limbs tremors in elderly people: LV Wind & Phlegm in the channels.
- Small fine tremors: LV Wind due to Blood Def.
- Involuntary contracture of finger/limbs: LV Wind due to LV Yin or LV Blood def.
- Muscle cramps: LV Wind due to LV Yin def.
- Acute convulsions with high fever: Extreme Heat pathogen invasion.
- Hemiplegia after a stroke: Internal Wind & Phlegm on the channels & side affected.

🔥TCM Diagnosis time! 🔥
Assessing the state of KD Essence through observation is a great way to know if the patient has a weak constitution. Vitality and a symmetrical bone structure reflect the state of Ming Men Fire. I also look at the patient and try to figure out her/his age, then I look at their birth date. If she/he look younger, that’s a good KD sign, but if she/he looks older, there is a weak KD.

👴🏾 Hair
- Premature grey hair or receding hairline: KD Essence declining.
- Falling hair by clumps or bald patches on the back of the head: Blood Deficiency.

😁 Teeth
- Crooked teeth or loose teeth: KD Essence def.
- Needing braces: KD Essence def.

👂Ears
- A long-full lobe: strong KD.
- Thin-small lobe: weak constitution.
- Dry, withered, greyish: Extreme KD exhaustion.
- Difficulty in hearing: KD Essence declining.

👀 Eyes
- Decreased vision: KD Essence declining.

🦶 Bones
- Weak bones, osteoporosis: KD Essence def.

Essence (Jing) cannot be replenished, but we can try to preserve it as we age, with a healthy lifestyle.
- Acupuncture to self regulate and keep homeostasis.
- Diet: Bone broth, seeds and collagen rich foods (egg white, fish with the skin, garlic...), black foods (back rice, black sesame/chia seeds, black beans, blackberries).
- Exercise: Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Yoga...
- Sleep at regular hours between 11 pm and 7 am.

The XI-CLEFT points characteristics:
- They’re located on the limbs, and are where Qi & Blood accumulate and converge in the meridians.
- Each of the 12 regular meridians has a Xi-Cleft point, as do the Yin Wei, Yang Wei, Yin Qiao and Yang Qiao Meridians, 16 in all.
- They treat acute disorders. The Yin points alleviate acute bleeding disorders, and the Yang points relieve acute pain.
- They can also help diagnose, when palpating these points. If they are tender, the meridian is affected. For example, if ST 34 is very tender to the touch, there is stomach issues.
