I am Pol. Lt. Gen. Thana Turajane, M.D. (Hons), an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction, sports medicine, and orthobiologic therapies. I received my medical degree with honors in 1986 from Prince of Songkhla University, followed by training in general surgery at Police General Hospital and Pramongkutklao Medical School. In 1992, I earned certification from the Thai Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
To further advance my clinical and academic expertise, I pursued training abroad. This included a spine surgery fellowship in Ohio, pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, arthroscopy training through the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and an AO Fellowship in Switzerland focused on joint arthroplasty and biologic treatments.
I previously served as Chief of the Orthopedic Department at Police General Hospital and currently serve as Director of the Stem Cell Research and Treatment Excellence Center. My leadership roles have also included President of the Hip and Knee Section of the Royal College of Orthopedic Surgeons of Thailand and President of the Hip Section of the Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association.
My academic work focuses on the application of platelet-rich growth factors and regenerative medicine for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. I remain committed to advancing biologic therapies, evidence-based clinical care, and international collaboration in joint preservation and cartilage repair.
