Will you be in any of these places?

Thailand has my heart but that doesn't mean I don't still love to travel. I'm currently in Paris for a couple more days then will be heading to St. Tropez to teach at La Reserve from May 10-19 then again June 7-16.

Experiencing other places, teaching in new spaces and continually meeting all types of people helps me make sure what we offer through Thailand Yoga Holidays is the best support and experience you can get.

(...and if you're in St. Tropez, come say hi!)

#5 LAUNCH YOUR RETREAT (& SELL IT OUT!)

It's time to start putting the word out and generating some bookings. You’ll want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their foot in the door. This means removing obstacles between them saying “I'd love to go but..” and “I'm going!”. This begins with having a well set-up website which not only features the eye-catching details of your event but also allows people to register and pay directly.

👉🏽 People hate committing. So try offering an early bird discount as an incentive to get people to book sooner. The discount has to be significant enough to motivate your students to make the leap. We find anything between 15-25% off the retail price usually does the trick. You can also get creative and throw in more incentives to book early such as free class passes, discounts on your workshops or something else that appears high-value to the guest but cost you very little.

👉🏽 These little 'perks' combined with your authentic voice and intention for holding retreat are key for selling out...but keep in mind that persistence plays a big role too. If you're not seeing the number of bookings you need, don't give up - try new things and get the opportunity infront of your students again!

#4 FIGURING OUT PRICING
Money is often a taboo subject within the yoga culture. But we need money to survive and if you play your cards right, holding a retreat is a great way of generating extra income. First off, you’ll need to figure out how much the retreat is going to cost. Begin by adding up all your costs - and we mean EVERYTHING including:
⭐️ Marketing materials
⭐️ Any promotional budget
⭐️ Accommodation
⭐️ Transportation during the retreat
⭐️ Gifts, yoga props and extras
⭐️ Food and drink
⭐️ PayPal or other banking fees
⭐️ Your own return flight to the destination and accommodation
⭐️ Tips and service fees
⭐️ Excursion or entrance fees

If you're not sure about the price of something, err on the side of caution and overestimate.

Once you have a clear idea of how much the retreat is going to cost, then you can begin to set the price by marking up the base retreat rate with how much you hope to earn as profit.

#3 CHOOSE THE RIGHT DESTINATION
First off, how familiar or comfortable are you with the destination you want to go to? Sure, Indonesia is beautiful - but if you’ve never been there before or don't know the customs and culture, then planning a retreat will be more complicated.

Make it easy on yourself and go with a place you're familiar with in order to simplify the planning process and be better prepared to answer students questions. You also want to consider:
⭐ How far (and expensive) it will be for your students to travel there
⭐ What time of year works best for your schedule and if it coincides with decent weather in your chosen destination
⭐ What concerns or issues you may have with the destination
⭐ If there are a variety of food options readily available

It's smart to do a reconnaissance trip to experience the destination first hand, or get trusted help.

For example, with our retreat hosting service, we take care of all the planning and logistics for you, using our long-term relationships, network and experience within Thailand...and beyond!

#2 FIND YOUR TRUTH
Hello fellow yoga teachers! Today we're covering your retreat goals. Before planning a retreat, you should be crystal clear on your objectives:
⭐ Why do you want to teach a retreat?
⭐ What is your idea of a dream retreat?
⭐ What kind of experience will your students benefit from?

Knowing the answer will not only help guide your retreat planning, but also help you successfully position and sell your retreat. After knowing why you're creating the retreat, you can then determine your USPs (unique selling points):
⭐ Why should your students choose your retreat over the countless retreats already on the market?
⭐ What are your USPs? List specific things which make your retreat stand out.

The intention behind your retreat combined with what makes it special will then help shape your positioning, marketing materials and how you talk to (and sell) your students.

Over on the Thailand Yoga Holidays page this week...

While the thought of leading a yoga retreat abroad can seem daunting, with the right know-how, it's easier than you think and it's an incredible way of offering your students the opportunity to dig deeper into their practice while also experiencing a new way of life. (Plus it's fun and you can make some extra money to supplement your teaching income.)

But where to start?

We'll be sharing one tip a day throughout the week to help get you going starting with...

#1 NAIL DOWN THE BASICS
If you want to sell out your yoga retreat you need to ask yourself these questions from the very beginning:
⭐ What’s the age range of your students?
⭐ What can they afford?
⭐ Are they experienced travellers?

If you don't know all the answers - ask! There's no point in creating an experience your students aren't even interested in or can't afford.

These answers will help shape the entire retreat planning process...
