อาจไม่มีใครคาดคิดว่าในปี ค.ศ. 2007 การเปิดตัวโทรศัพท์มือถือเครื่องหนึ่งโดย สตีฟ จ็อบส์ (Steve Jobs) จะกลายเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนที่เคลื่อนโลกทัศน์ของเราไปตลอดกาล iPhone ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงนวัตกรรม แต่คือประตูบานแรกที่เปิดให้หน้าจอดิจิทัลย้ายจากโต๊ะทำงานมาอยู่ในมือ ส่งผลให้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่อันชาญฉลาดนับจากนั้นกลายเป็นอวัยวะชิ้นที่ 33 ของมนุษยชาติ และปฏิวัติวิถีที่เราเชื่อมต่อกับความรู้ ความสัมพันธ์ โลก และตัวตนของเราเอง
ปรากฏการณ์นี้ก่อให้เกิดมนุษย์ยุคใหม่ที่มองทัศนียภาพรอบตัวต่างไปจากบรรพบุรุษ ซึ่งนักปรัชญาอย่าง มีแชล แซร์ (Michel Serres) เรียกพวกเขาและเธอว่า “เจ้าหนูนิ้วโป้ง” (Petite Poucette) คนรุ่นที่เติบโตมาโดยมีโลกทั้งใบอยู่ในกำมือ และสามารถเข้าถึงข้อมูลได้ทุกที่ทุกเวลาด้วยปลายนิ้ว แซร์ชี้ว่าคนรุ่นนี้เปรียบเสมือนมี "สมองที่อยู่ในมือ" ด้วยความสามารถในการจดจำได้ถูกส่งต่อไปยังอุปกรณ์ภายนอก ทำให้สมองของพวกเขาเป็นอิสระเพื่อทำหน้าที่อื่น อย่างการถักทอความหมายใหม่ระหว่างตัวตนกับโครงข่ายของข้อมูลที่ไร้ขีดจำกัด ทำให้โลกทัศน์ของพวกเขาไม่ได้ถูกจำกัดอยู่ภายในกรอบความรู้แบบเดิม ๆ
ในฐานะศิลปินที่เติบโตมาในภูมิทัศน์ใหม่นี้ Wavyblue หรือ แสตมป์ - เมธาวี ปะมะโข เริ่มเรียนรู้ที่จะมองโลกทางกายภาพผ่านหน้าจอดิจิทัลที่อย่างนามธรรม Wavyblue คือตัวตนที่ถูกสร้างขึ้นเพื่อกลับไปขุดค้นวัตถุดิบจากซากปรักหักพังของข้อมูลที่ดูเหมือนจะไร้เหตุผล จากภาพกากที่ถูกคัดลอก, บีบอัด, และลดทอนคุณค่าลงนับครั้งไม่ถ้วนบนโลกออนไลน์, จากความรู้สึกที่ถูกกระตุ้นด้วยอัลกอริทึมที่คัดสรรสิ่งต่าง ๆ ให้เธอมองเห็น, และจากความทรงจำส่วนตัวที่แตกสลายและพร่าเลือน เธอไม่ได้พยายามจะกู้คืนต้นฉบับที่สาบสูญ แต่กลับนำเศษเสี้ยว (Fragment) เหล่านั้นมาประกอบสร้างขึ้นใหม่ด้วยสายตาของปัจจุบัน กระบวนการนี้ได้เปลี่ยนการฝึกฝนทางศิลปะของเธอ จากที่เคยใช้ "สีน้ำเงิน" (Blue) เป็นเครื่องมือปลดปล่อยความเศร้าในอดีต ให้กลายเป็นการเฉลิมฉลองและการค้นพบความงามในความไม่สมบูรณ์ หรือ “ความสุข” (Joy)
Fragment of Joy คือนิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งแรกของ Wavyblue ที่จะเชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมร่วมกันปะติดปะต่อเสี้ยวส่วนของความสุขที่กำลังก่อตัว ผ่านผลงานจิตรกรรมนอกขนบที่เรียบง่าย งานออกแบบรอยสัก ประติมากรรมสื่อผสม และการจัดวาง ที่ล้วนแล้วแต่ไร้ซึ่งคำจำกัดความ และดำรงอยู่ตรงกลางพร้อมกันระหว่างบันทึกส่วนตัว ศิลปะ และงานออกแบบ ที่ซึ่งหัวใจของการเดินทางข้ามผ่านไปมาระหว่างหลากหลายคำจำกัดความเหล่านี้อยู่ที่การเปลี่ยนแปลงภายในจิตใจ จากริ้วรอยและคลื่นแห่งความเศร้าหมอง ที่แม้จะยังคงอยู่ตรงนั้น ไม่ได้ถูกลบล้างหายไป ทว่ากลับถูกประกอบขึ้นด้วยมุมมองที่ต่างออกไป จนความหมายของมันได้แปรสภาพเป็นความสงบและความปิติยินดี นี่คือกระบวนการของการเปลี่ยนเรื่องเล่าที่เรามีต่ออดีต เพื่อคลี่คลายความรู้สึกที่เรามีต่อมันในปัจจุบัน
การกลายพันธุ์นี้จึงไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นแค่ในความคิด แต่ถูกจารึกลงบนผิวหนัง “แผลเป็น” (Scar) ซึ่งเคยเป็นเพียงบันทึกของความเจ็บปวด นำมาซึ่งแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ “ร่องรอย” (Trace) ลายเส้นของงานออกแบบรอยสัก Hand Poke จึงเปี่ยมไปด้วยเจตจำนง อักขระใหม่ที่ไม่ได้มีหน้าที่เพื่อกลบทับประวัติศาสตร์ของบาดแผล แต่โอบรับมันไว้ให้กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของแผนที่ชีวิตที่งดงาม
Fragment of Joy จึงไม่ใช่เพียงนิทรรศการศิลปะ แต่เป็นบทเชิญชวนให้เราหยุดพินิจพิจารณาเศษเสี้ยวต่าง ๆ ในชีวิตของศิลปิน ร่องรอยที่ถูกประทับไว้, ความทรงจำที่ไม่ชัดเจน, หรือความรู้สึกที่ยังไร้ชื่อเรียก แล้วเริ่มต้นประกอบมันขึ้นใหม่ไปด้วยกันอีกครั้ง เพื่อจะค้นพบว่าการเชื่อมต่อที่ลึกซึ้งที่สุดในฐานะมนุษย์ อาจไม่ใช่การถูกกลืนหายไปกับเครือข่ายข้อมูลผ่านหน้าจอ แต่คือกลับไปการเชื่อมโยงเศษเสี้ยวทั้งหมดที่ร้อยเรียงกันขึ้นเป็นตัวตนของเรา ณ สถานที่ใดที่หนึ่งภายใน หรือระหว่างนั้น

Solo Exhibition by Wavyblue

Few could have predicted that in 2007, the launch of a mobile phone by Steve Jobs would become a turning point that would shift our worldview forever. The iPhone was not merely an innovation; it was the first door that allowed the digital screen to move from the desk into our hands, causing the smart mobile phone from then on to become humanity's 33rd organ. It has revolutionized the way we connect with knowledge, relationships, the world, and our very selves.
This phenomenon gave rise to a new kind of human who sees the surrounding landscape differently from their ancestors—a generation the philosopher Michel Serres called "Petite Poucette" (Thumbelina). They are a generation that grew up with the entire world in their hands, able to access information anytime, anywhere, with the tip of a finger. Serres points out that this generation is like having "a brain in their hands." With the ability to memorize having been outsourced to external devices, their minds are free for other tasks, such as weaving new meaning between the self and the limitless network of data. Their worldview is thus no longer confined within traditional frameworks of knowledge.
As an artist who grew up in this new landscape, Wavyblue, or Stamp - Mathawee Pamakho, began to learn to see the physical world through the abstract digital screen. Wavyblue is the persona she created and uses to go back and excavate materials from the seemingly irrational ruins of data: from images that have been copied, compressed, and devalued countless times online; from feelings stimulated by algorithms that curate what she sees; and from fragmented and fading personal memories. She does not attempt to recover a lost original but instead reassembles these fragments with the perspective of the present. This process has transformed her artistic practice, from once using "Blue" as a tool to release past sorrows to now celebrating and discovering beauty in imperfection, or "Joy."
Fragment of Joy is Wavyblue’s first solo exhibition, an invitation for viewers to piece together the emerging fragments of happiness. It unfolds through simple, unconventional paintings, tattoo designs, mixed-media sculptures, and installations—all of which elude definition, existing simultaneously in the space between paintings from personal records, art, and design. The heart of this journey across these various definitions lies in an internal transformation. The waves of sorrow, still present and not erased, are yet reassembled with a different perspective until their meaning metamorphoses into tranquility and joy. This is the process of changing the narrative we have about the past to resolve the feelings we have about it in the present.
This mutation, therefore, does not only occur in the mind; it is also inscribed upon the skin. The "Scar," which was once a record of pain, has become the inspiration for creating the "Trace." The lines of a hand-poked tattoo design are thus filled with intention—a new script whose function is not to bury the history of the wound, but to embrace it as part of a beautiful life map.
Fragment of Joy is therefore not just an art exhibition, but an invitation for us to pause and consider the various fragments in the artist's life—the traces impressed upon her, the fading memories, or the feelings that remain nameless—and to begin reassembling them together, once again. It is a chance to discover that the most profound connection we can make as human beings may not be about being swallowed by the network of data through a screen, but the reconnection with all the fragments that are woven together to form our identity—in a place found somewhere within, or perhaps, in between.
