🌧️𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧 🌿
Monsoon is considered the unhealthiest season of the year in Ayurveda. The combination of high humidity and wetness weakens our Agni (digestive fire), making it harder to digest food. This damp environment doesn’t just cause mold in our homes but also in our bodies, leading to ama (toxins) accumulation.
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐬:
• Congestion, mucus buildup (head, nose, lungs)
• Weak digestion
• Stiffness, joint pain, heaviness, tiredness. High risk for infections
Most people stick to their usual routines year-round, which worsens these imbalances. On tropical islands, I often see people starting their day with cold smoothie bowls, eating yogurt, or going for frequent oil massages - that’s not good in monsoon and all of which block the body’s channels and create more mucus.
The result? More sickness, infections and unhappy hormones.
🌿 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡:
• Focus on daily detox routines: Nasyam (nasal cleansing), steam, sauna, and exercise.
• Choose light, warm foods and eat less—avoid heavy, cold, and damp foods.
• Stick to early, light dinners and avoid overeating.
• Swap coffee and alcohol for digestive teas with ginger, tulsi, fennel or cumin.
Your immune system, hormones, and overall well-being will thank you for these seasonal adjustments.
