Life increasingly feels like a process of having every so-called 'certainty' stripped away. I'm really feeling this in my body, it's noticeable and un-ignorable.

But the stark reality is that it's only ever our *illusion* of certainty that is being stripped away. (Remember Covid anyone?)

There never actually was any certainty ever, except death and taxes.

So if you're looking to the forms of this world (money, success, relationships, status, a house, institutions, idealogies) for a sense of safety and peace, you're setting yourself up for a lot of suffering. There is no safety and peace to be found in the world of forms, they are all impermanent.

It's like you've been sitting next to a river your whole life and you've been dying of thirst. I show people how to fill up for themselves, so they never have to try to get it filled by anyone else.

Say it out loud after me "I am the source of my own persistent and sustainable peace, security and wellbeing!"

And notice what happens in your body as you do.

There are some things we grieve because they happened. But there are also things we need to grieve because they didn’t.

The love, safety, tenderness or attunement that was missing, the childhood you needed but didn’t have. A relationship you kept hoping would become something it never could.

This grief can be hard to allow because it can awaken such a primal sense of being alone. So we unconsciously outrun it by repeating old patterns, or searching for what was missing in the wrong places.

But you can't strategise your way out of grief. It is a process to move through - and yes it can feel profoundly lonely. Hell knows I've been there.

But I've observed that the deepest healing occurs when we allow ourselves to mourn what the past couldn't give us. That's how we move on.

I mean aliveness, appetite, the pull toward what feeds you.

Audre Lorde called it the source of power you need for "knowing what you need" to have any teeth. (Read Lorde’s "Uses of the Erotic", 1978)

Radical responsibility is not carrying the whole world. Believing you're responsible for all of it is a form of grandiosity, and distracts from the harder question of what is actually mine to do? Real responsibility is finite.

What do you want, what do you need, and where do you squander energy?

Yes, feel tenderness for the world, but put your effort where you can really participate, in the people, the causes and the work your hands can reach.

Soon I will run another round of my program for world-changing women : “Ravenous & Unruly” - Unlearning Good Girl Conditioning and Reclaiming Eros.

For more info and to join the waitlist, type Unruly below.

Which is harder than it sounds when you've spent a lifetime over extending and overriding your own body.

The thing that tells you what you want and what you're done tolerating is EROS, and I don't mean s*x. I mean aliveness, appetite, the pull toward what feeds you.

Audre Lorde called it the source of power you need for "knowing what you need" to have any teeth. (Read Lorde’s "Uses of the Erotic", 1978)

Your life can feel largely fulfilled, and yet still you will encounter many bumps in the road.

The work we do in my bi-weekly 'Human Being Community' is to establish such a solid, rooted internal center, that bumps in the road no longer destabilise us.

There are just *some* of the things that members of my container have said about developing a “rooted internal center” during our work together...

"I now know how to emotionally regulate"
"I feel a sense of self-trust"
"I've developed a more secure attachment style"
"I have a much greater capacity to remain present with difficult experiences"
"I notice I'm engaging in way less compulsive meaning-making"
"I can observe my own mind without automatically believing it"
"Radical responsibility is not just a concept to me anymore, I'm actually choosing it"
"Psychological sovereignty is actually achievable!"
"I feel a felt sense of “I can handle being me” for the first time.

Does any of that sound good to you? Click the link in my bio to join.

I honestly believe that teaching the art of loving well should take priority over EVERY other thing we are taught as humans.

ALL the problems in the human race stem from loving poorly, or worse, destructively.

It's not hyperbole to say than this is world-changing work.

Come and join my incredible bunch of love-bugs as we learn the art of loving well - while tussling with our troublesome little ego's.

There is no substitute for social learning.

And healing isn't a linear path. Finding the right space to be messy and imperfect changes everything. This is what The Human Being community offers.

After navigating a period of isolation and burnout, Thea shares how shifting from a do-it-yourself independence to authentic community connection transformed her life. By shedding the protective masks we wear, it’s possible to stop leaking energy and start living with real vitality.

Discovering the courage to be vulnerable and seeing that you don’t have to face life alone is a powerful turning point. Sometimes, all it takes is having someone who can see beyond your defenses and hold space for your true self to emerge.

And all this on top of a chest infection and a scary longer-term health diagnosis which has left me very short on capacity.

I would never EVER say that this work is easy. It is not. At times it feels Herculean because the patterns are so damn compelling.

But the rewards are great. The feelings of congruence and integrity are their own nourishment.

I believe in us. I believe we can change the world. 🤍

If you're even slightly curious about the work I'm doing with my group The Human Being Community - reach out and I'll send you a couple of recordings so you can see for yourself.
