how can we take care of our nervous system first thing in the morning? ☀️
this is a judgment free zone first and I’ll say that sometimes the things that we reach for in the morning are things that actually might cause us to feel a little bit more anxiety than calm

here are some tips just to keep in mind as we go through the first 10 minutes of our day after waking up:

from screen breaks, gentle movement, drinking beverages 🫖 , and a way to connect with our breath and bodies 🧘🏾‍♀️

let’s simplify some self-care habits when we experience functional freeze, especially after work.

after giving everything we have to get through the day, sometimes we have nothing left…not because we’re “lazy” but because our nervous system might be feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated.

rather than pushing to do more, it may be worth it to give ourselves permission to rest and decompress before taking on any tasks.

after resting, it’s taking it slow and doing micro habits instead of everything allowing us to prioritize our needs 🧡

in 1998, a judge in Italian court overturned a conviction stating that the victim’s jeans … what she was wearing implied that she gave consent, even though she did not

to take a stance, women in Italian parliament wore jeans to protest the ruling

as a trauma therapist, I see the emotional impacts of victim blaming and the importance of breaking these cycles

if you are a survivor, I see you
what happened to you isn’t your fault

it’s important for us to keep having important conversations and place responsibility where it belongs
