Post op Pterygium Surgery: What to expect at your Day 1 follow-up

On your first day after surgery, the ophthalmologist will perform a thorough check-up to ensure your eye is healing perfectly

â€Ē Visual Acuity: Checking your vision
â€Ē Intraocular Pressure (IOP): Measuring eye pressure
â€Ē Wound Inspection: Using Fluorescein dye to check the corneal surface and healing progress
â€Ē Suture Check: Ensuring the amniotic membrane graft and stitches are secure and in place

Next Steps:
📅 Follow-up: Stitches are usually removed in 5–7 days
ðŸšŦ Precautions: Keep water out of the eye and strictly do not rub your eye
💊 Medication: Continue your prescribed antibiotic drops, steroid drops, and artificial tears

📌From my perspective—this is how I explain the difference between these three words:

See is simply a verb: the ability to detect light or objects—whether you can see or not.

Sight is a noun with a deeper meaning: it refers to visual function from the eyes themselves (eyesight).

Vision is also a noun, but broader: it goes beyond the eyes. It includes how the brain interprets what we see—perception, meaning, even mental imagery.

A patient may have sight, but not fully have vision if the brain cannot properly process the visual input.

Today, I examined three French patients after cataract surgery. All chose Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses—and everyone is happy with the results. So am I💓

👁ïļ Check your central vision (macula) with an Amsler grid at a distance of about 30 cm.

Cover one eye at a time and focus on the central dot.
If you notice any distortion (wavy or bent lines), missing areas, or dark/shaded spots in the grid,

please seek prompt evaluation by a retina specialist.

Retinal diseases can be treated—especially when detected early.
