Commercial shipping lanes generate a constant low-frequency drone across the seabed. This specific acoustic bandwidth directly overlaps with the frequencies baleen whales use to communicate over vast distances. The resulting interference masks their calls, isolating individuals and disrupting complex mating and migration behaviours.

Our LTC001 captain continues to show his commitment to the LTC project, even when the tide is low. Low tide in the khlong means our LTC001 cannot navigate the shallow water. Instead of turning back, The captain of LTC001 goes on foot, wading through the mud to clear plastic waste by hand before it washes out to sea and harms marine life.

Water is a highly efficient conductor of acoustic energy. Sound travels nearly five times faster through the ocean than through air. For marine life, hearing is the primary sense for navigation and survival. Introducing continuous mechanical noise effectively blinds the species that rely on a clear acoustic environment to find food and evade predators.

🌊 Keeping Phuket's Mangroves and Coastline Clean – One Piece of Plastic at a Time

Every day, our Licence To Clean (LTC002) coastal cleaner catamaran patrols the waters around Rassada Pier and the surrounding mangrove channels in Phuket, removing floating plastic waste before it can reach the open sea or harm marine life.

Thanks to its specially designed skimming basket located between its two hulls, LTC002 efficiently collects floating plastic, one piece at a time. Once back ashore, our dedicated captain carefully sorts the waste by material before delivering it to a nearby recycling centre, ensuring that as much of it as possible is given a second life.

Our fleet now includes five Licence To Clean coastal cleaner catamarans, all designed, built and operated by Oceans For All Foundation. Even the boats themselves reflect our commitment to sustainability—they are built entirely from 100% recyclable plastic.

To mark International Shark Awareness Day, the OFA team and Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa hosted a conservation workshop and the release of two juvenile brown banded bamboo sharks. These sharks, numbers 69 and 70, were reared for six months in OFA’s Shark Nursery at JW Marriott Khao Lak. Our ReSharking event returned them to the Andaman Sea reef on 14th July. Thank you to the resort guests who joined us to support local marine ecosystems.

The entire Southern Ocean relies on a tiny crustacean. Antarctic krill are the foundational cornerstone of the polar food web. They feed on microscopic algae and, in turn, sustain hundreds of species of whales, penguins, seals, and seabirds. Without them, the polar ecosystem would simply vanish.

The health of a coral reef relies heavily on parrotfish. These vibrant fish spend their days grazing on algae that would otherwise smother and kill the coral polyps. As they eat, they also grind up dead coral, excreting the fine white sand that builds tropical beaches.
