🌿 How are innovative nano-delivery systems shaping the future of sustainable nano-biopesticides?
The Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC), Lead Partner of the EONANOBIOPS project, co-funded by the European Union under 🇪🇺 the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, convened an online coordination meeting for Work Package 4 (WP4): Development of Innovative Nano-Formulations.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Serena Riela from the University of Catania (UNICT), WP4 Leader, and brought together representatives from all project partners to review progress in developing innovative nano-delivery systems that enhance the stability, controlled release, biological efficacy, and safety of essential oil-based nano-biopesticides for sustainable tomato crop protection.
BERC highlighted the substantial scientific progress achieved during WP3, including the screening and profiling of promising essential oils and the generation of valuable biological data to support their selection for nano-formulation and validation.
Building on these achievements, BERC introduced a Training-by-Working Programme, a collaborative researcher exchange initiative designed to further harmonise methodologies, expand comparable biological datasets, strengthen partners’ technical capacities, and accelerate the selection of the most effective essential oils for the next stages of the project. The complete programme proposal will be shared with the partners shortly.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC, Palestine), the Centre of Biotechnology of Sfax (CBS, Tunisia), the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA, Greece), the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA, Greece), the University of Catania (UNICT, Italy), An-Najah National University (ANNU, Palestine), and Connect’Innov (Tunisia).
