HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
June is Men’s Health Month, and this is more than a reminder to exercise or book a doctor’s appointment. It is a reminder that men need love, support, check-ins, and safe spaces too.
Too often, men are expected to be strong in silence. To carry stress quietly. To push through pain. To provide, protect, and perform without admitting when something feels wrong.
But real strength is not ignoring your health.
Real strength is choosing to live, heal, and show up for yourself, your family, your brothers, your children, and the people who love you.
Statistics show that men are less likely to visit a primary care doctor and face higher mortality rates from leading causes of death such as heart disease, cancer, and accidental injuries. That is why this month matters. It gives us a chance to talk openly, encourage one another, and build healthier habits together.
Men, check in on each other.
Send the message. Make the call. Ask the real question: “How are you really doing?”
Sometimes brotherhood is not only laughing together, it is reminding each other to go to the doctor, take the test, rest, talk, move, and choose life.
Ways to protect your health and the men you love:
1) Get an annual preventive check-up.
Do not wait until something feels serious. Regular check-ups can help catch small health issues early. Your doctor can also guide you on important screenings such as blood sugar testing, cholesterol checks, blood pressure checks, and colorectal cancer screening.
2) Eat for your heart and your future.
Choose more whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables. A healthy plate today can help protect your heart tomorrow.
3) Move your body regularly.
Aim for at least 30 minutes of movement each day. Walk, run, play a sport, go to the gym, or simply move with a brother. Health is easier when you do not have to do it alone.
4) Quit ni****ne.
Whether your reason is to live longer, breathe better, look younger, or be present for your family, find your “why” and take the first step.
5) Take care of your mental health.
Stress, pressure, grief, fear, and exhaustion are real. Talking to a mental health professional is not weakness, it is wisdom. Men deserve support too.
This Men’s Health Month, let us love our men loudly.
Let us check in, encourage, listen, support, and remind them that their lives matter.
Because strong bodies matter.
Strong minds matter.
And strong brotherhood can save lives.
