He's a UWI Medical Student — and the very first Synapse Scholar.

This summer, Asafa got to do something most medical students only read about: real neurology, real patients, real medicine. Inpatient rounds, outpatient clinics, and the kind of hands-on experience that shapes the kind of doctor you become.

We started the Synapse Scholar Programme because we believe great medicine should be taught as well as practised. Hear what Asafa has to say about it. 👆🏽

The Synapse Scholar Programme is Synapse Medical's annual placement initiative for UWI medical students. Scholars spend dedicated time within our neurology practice — on the wards, in clinic, and alongside our clinical team — gaining the kind of immersive exposure that classroom medicine simply cannot replicate.

We are grateful to have started this journey in 2026, and we look forward to welcoming new Scholars every year.

Synapse Medical was at the Prison Service Health Fair July 23–25 — three days of free health support for officers, staff, and their families.
