7 tough truths that changed my life:

1. No one is responsible for managing your blood sugar but you
2. Be comfortable with the uncomfortable
3. Failure is there to guide you, not define you
4. Accept the lifelong commitment
5. People won’t always understand
6. Burnout is not preventable, but manageable
7. You are not burden

I used to be the girl who ran to the bathroom just to inject insulin because I didn’t want anyone to know I had type 1 diabetes.

I was also the girl who thought traveling wasn’t meant for people like me. I worried about airport security, insulin staying cold, low blood sugars on flights, forgetting supplies, and what I would do if something went wrong in another country.

Looking back, I have so much empathy for that version of myself.

Today, I’ve traveled to countries all over the world with type 1 diabetes, and I’ve learned something important: diabetes doesn’t have to stop you from seeing the world. You don’t need to be fearless—you just need to be prepared.

That’s why I created Travel Guide for Type 1 Diabetics. It’s the guide I wish I had when I was first diagnosed, filled with real-life tips, packing checklists, airport advice, travel routines, and everything I’ve learned through years of traveling with diabetes.

If you’re dreaming about your next trip but diabetes is making you feel nervous, I hope this guide gives you the confidence to do it.

Comment “travel” and I’ll send you the link.
