《HUTLC Guest Speaker Introduction》
Luisa Shu-Ying Chang (張淑英), Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature
from the Complutense University of Madrid, is Professor in the Department of
Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University (NTU) and
currently serves as President of both the Taiwanese and Asian Associations of
Hispanists.
She was seconded to Taipei Medical University as Executive Vice President
(2023–2025) and previously served as Senior Advisor for Global Affairs and
Professor at National Tsing Hua University (2019–2022); Vice President for
International Affairs at NTU (2013–2019), and Deputy Dean of NTU’s College of
Liberal Arts (2011–2013). In 2016, she was elected a foreign member of the Royal
Spanish Academy.
A dedicated leader in international higher education, Dr. Chang frequently serves as
speaker and chair at global academic forums and actively fosters institutional
partnerships and scholarly exchange with universities worldwide.
Her research focuses on contemporary Spanish and Latin American literature and
cultural studies, travel writing, picaresque novels, colonial chronicles, and translation
between Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hokkien. She has translated over 20
works. In 2023, her international research team received First Prize from Spain’s
Fundación Duques de Soria.
