Iringa International School

Iringa International School Outstanding academic performance since 1993. IIS has been authorized as an official Cambridge International School. Currently we offer IGCSE courses.

Iringa International School was started in 1993 by a group of expatriate and local parents in Iringa to provide a sound education of international standard for children in the Southern Highlands region of Tanzania. It is a parent-owned, non-profit-making school run by a Board of Management elected annually from among the body of parents. The school started as a Primary School with 12 students and

two full-time teachers, and has since added on a Pre-School, Middle School, 'O' levels (Key Stages 1-4) and boarding facilities. We are an IB Candidate school for the Primary Years Programme for children aged 3 -11.

While researching children’s rights, class 4/5 discovered that across Africa and Asia many children their age don’t have clean water. They have to walk up to 6km every day to fetch 20 litres so they can drink safely. To try and empathise with their suffering our students walked 1.5km carrying 20 litres between two of them.

We were very lucky to have an impromptu visit from Maher Albarwani who is currently setting a new record by being the first person from an Arab country to ride round the African continent on his BMW F800GS.
He came and spoke to the school and was kind enough to spend over an hour answering questions. If you see him en route please give him all your support.

Last weekend our PTA organised a sponsored bike ride and walk to raise money for Pomerini School, a school in Iringa that supports students with disabilities and special needs. Through everyone’s efforts and kind donations we were able to raise a whopping 831,000/= all of which will go to the school. A huge thank you to everyone.
If anyone else would like to donate to such a worthy cause, then please get in touch and we will happily tell you how.
