Gorse dye has choleretic, laxative, diaphoretic, diuretic, hemostatic, soothing and restorative properties. An infusion made from the aerial part of the plant has an active antibacterial and vasodilating effect on the body. Also, preparations from this plant have analgesic and blood-purifying effects. A decoction and infusion of gorse contract the uterine muscle, stimulate the function of the thyroid gland, and are distinguished by vasodilating, laxative, diuretic, choleretic and lactogenic effects. An infusion of the green parts of the yellow dye flower has a noticeable vasoconstrictive effect, excites respiration, and is also capable of stimulating the function of the thyroid gland. The fruits of the plant have an anthelmintic effect.
