🤝 Seeking Strategic Partners to Turn an Idea into Implementation

Cancer is often detected too late in Uganda. What if we could bring screening closer to the communities that need it most—and ensure people don’t get lost after referral?

The National Organisation for People Living with Hepatitis B (NOPLHB) is seeking founding funders, strategic partners, corporate partners, health insurers, and technical collaborators to help us move EarlyShield from concept to implementation.

EarlyShield is a community mobile cancer screening and linkage program designed around a simple principle:

SCREEN → LINK → FOLLOW THROUGH

The model will bring multipurpose mobile screening closer to people, including underserved and rural communities, while providing active navigation to diagnostic confirmation and treatment.

EarlyShield will focus on: 🔹 Cervical cancer
🔹 Breast cancer
🔹 Prostate cancer
🔹 Oral cancer
🔹 Liver cancer surveillance for people living with chronic Hepatitis B

We are particularly looking for a founding partner to support Phase 1, including the establishment of a multipurpose mobile cancer screening unit and the working capital required to launch the program.

Our longer-term vision is a sustainable cross-subsidy model, where corporate and insurance-funded screenings help finance free and subsidised screening for vulnerable and rural communities.

We have the idea. We have the community networks and partnerships. Now we need the right partners to help us graduate this idea into implementation.

We are thrilled to share that the Ministry of Health, Uganda, has officially endorsed and accepted to host the highly anticipated Triple Elimination Conference in Africa slated for July 21-23 2025 in Kampala Uganda.

We are happy to have established one of our hepatitis patient peer support network in West Nile. This establishment of a patient led network affiliated to our organization comes at a time where there are so many challenges hepatitis B patients continue to face in Uganda among which include the continued drug stockouts, stigma and lack of proper management due to lack of a clear referral system. We hope this network with the training and skills given to the members will stir the advocacy on the grassroots and also empower more patients to own their own challenges and ask for what they should be getting for a better care in the region. We are grateful to the generous support from partners who made this work possible. We can't thank Gilead Sciences GSK Abbott and Hepatitis B Foundation for your support. In the coming months we shall be submitting the findings of this project for the wider audience to learn from in order to improve hepatitis B care in their respective communities.

In our 2nd episode of the Ugandan B the Voice Storytellers, we bring you Naume's story who discovered she had hepatitis B during her routine antenatal clinic. It is important for all pregnant mothers to test for hepatitis B so as to prevent mother to child transmission during child birth. Listen to her story. As we gear towards World Hepatitis Day on 28th July, we shall be sharing storytellers with lived experiences from our Hepatitis B Patient Peer Support and Selfcare Initiative supported with funding from Gilead Sciences GSK Abbott and Hepatitis B Foundation we hope through sharing these stories from Uganda will help create more awareness and meaning for government to increase funding for hepatitis B elimination in Uganda. Today we start with Debo's storytellers from West Nile and please be kind enough to share so that his message can reach out to as many people as possible. It's local and therefore local language but more stories in English will also be shared in the subsequent series
