They say that long ago, in the Middle Ages in France, married women had a secret habit.

Every morning, when a woman cooked breakfast for her husband, she put a very tiny bit of a bad herb inside. Just a little. It made the belly turn and the body weak, but not too much.

In the evening, when the man came back home, his wife gave him a sweet, good soup. That soup made him well again quickly.

If a husband stayed away from home for too long, he could not get the sweet soup. Then he started to feel sick - head pain, stomach pain, vomiting, and heavy breathing. The longer he stayed away, the worse he felt.

As soon as he came home and took his wife's soup, he became fine again.

Because of this, men believed that staying away from home brings pain and sadness, and they stayed close to their families and took their duties seriously.
